  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

New guy here. I have a 2012 5.0 and the owners manual says it takes 7.61 qts. I took it to the dealer for an oil change and the invoice says 6 qts. Is this right?

They could have written 1,000,000 qts you need to check the oil level when you get home. Level ground with engine off.

The owners manual will be correct, but make sure you look at the drain and fill number, and not the total capacity (some oil never gets drained out).

The manual is correct and the service advisor confirmed it when I first took mine in for the 1st oil change.
Yours might not have been completely drained out not sure because they had other cars in the waiting so it could have been a rush job as a result.

Dealer error in your favor. Collect one whole free qt of oil.

i always like chaning my own oil... i have taken my wife's car to the shop to get her c230 oil changed and they use oil that is not in spec with what the manual states. i have always changed my oil in the car and i know what i put in it. i just bought this genny and they have those filters that dont have an actual can and its just the filter. i never dealt with one like this before but im still going to change it myself...i dont trust them folks to do it, like the mech puts 6 instead of what is listed in the spec sheet... drives me crazy.
