  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis Motors executives have been watching this community for years. They've also made improvements to their vehicles based upon what they've read here. They are listening to you.

This discussion will serve as a quick and easy way for Genesis Motors executives to gauge interest and help make decisions moving forward.

As a GV60 driver, you should state exactly what you'd like to see enhanced, added, and/or omitted from your Genesis GV60.

Any posts that don't stick to the subject matter will be moved elsewhere.

Add seat heating to preconditioning, or give us a retain mode like most vehicles with rocker switches have.

Add a retain mode for I-Pedal. Make it a default-off setting if you need to keep the key-up stuff for efficiency testing.

Add Siri Eyes-Free for the iPhone Bluetooth connection via long press to ccIC. Wireless CarPlay would also be acceptable, but I recognize that that might be hardware related.

Add window roll up from the key. We have the roll down, roll up should work too.

Build in underfloor storage for the cargo cover. I get that it’s wide, maybe consider a collapsing design that allows it to be compressed and locked in that state so it can fit.

In the Navigation map, colors along the road lines are used to indicate traffic jams. But the colours that are used are very difficult or impossible to see for people with colour vision deficiency (CVD). And 10% of the population has CVD, myself included.
Google maps use colours for traffic jams which are much easier to see.
My proposal is to use a colour scheme which is much clearer for people with CVD.

  • Wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto (though I personally do not like the latter and am happy with the in-car nav system).
  • Tint the glass below the rear spoiler, that way you can not see in the back unless under bright sun.
  • Add a moulded area or space below the fake boot floor to fit/secure the cargo cover when not in use.
  • Either add the massager as an option for the passenger seat else include it alongside the driver seat with that option.
  • Have an option to select which safety items you want turning off and the ability to link this to one of the custom buttons. Renault now do this since Euro Law implementation changed to require them to be on each time you turn the car on (where as before it only needed to be on when new, so in my 2019 Zoe50 I just turned it off the once).
  • Allow the calendar display to show what calendars you have linked in the app, as there (on the UK/Euro app anyhow) you can select the local phone calendar plus exchange calendars, you're not just limited to Apple and Google.
  • Lighten the panoramic roof slightly. It is a bit too dark, meaning with the white seats opening it does not make the back any brighter.
  • As you have Amazon Music on the newer model (not mine), allow a link in with Amazon Alexa, Hey Google, and Siri, with the ability to program one of the custom buttons to trigger a 'listen waiting for a command'.
  • For UK (and for European countries aside from Austria and Portugal if it can be done on a per country basis) to have the inbuilt dash cam and recording functionality.
(and I have thought about the rear wipe, but personally I do not miss it and we do get rain over here in the UK ;) (plus I had to remove about 4" of snow before driving over a hundred miles back home just a week after getting the car).

Split the battery pack so that it can charge both sides at 400V at the same time for Tesla V3 superchargers. Right now, the GV60 can only charge at 400V at 97 kW max charge rate.

Use denser LFP battery pack such as Shenxing Golden Battery or the semi-solid state ones like those in Nio ET7 and Li Auto IM6 for more range (400+ miles). Charge rate of 400kw or more.

Allow for split screen with android auto on left side and radio on right side

The car is really well conceived but I do not understand how a car from tech forward S. Korea can be approved for sale without wireless CarPlay. The most mundane brands out there have this feature. Also the Facial Recognition system is a good idea, but very poorly executed. Ours has been buggy from the beginning, to the extent that after several attempts by the dealer to fix it, it still fails and needs to be reset. It simply cannot be relied on as a non key access and driving method. We had no choice but to file a California Lemon Law complaint and are currently in litigation with Genesis.
Another major issue is the appalling state of Genesis dealers from a staffing and service POV. When we bought the car we were promised concierge service, pickup and drop off by the dealer, EV loaners while the car was with the dealer and competent service advisors. We bought from one LA area dealer who had inventory when we were shopping, and we have the car serviced at another dealer much closer to us. The servicing dealer has been through several Service Managers in the past years and the service advisors are always a little indifferent. In order to get a loaner when the car needs to go to the dealer for a problem, we have to wait two to three weeks for an appointment that guarantees a loaner. It's never an EV either. This is a real failure at HQ level. They made many promises in their marketing and sales efforts but they have simply not followed through. We love the car, but we are disappointed at everything else.

1. Allow it to retain the i-pedal setting. At a minimum, going into reverse should not cancel i-pedal. It would be even better if turning the car off did not cancel i-pedal. This is a safety feature -- if I forget that i-Pedal is not engaged, the car will not decelerate as needed/expected. I usually turn on i-Pedal ASAP when starting a drive, and leave it on all the time (except when cruise control turns it off). But occasionally I'll get distracted and forget, and then not notice until I need to decelerate. Then it's like "oops - need to brake NOW". I understand this may affect efficiency testing, but that's a you problem.

2. Allow manual control of battery pre-conditioning. Even here in Southern California, pre-conditioning makes a big difference in charging speed in the cooler months. The current method of starting pre-conditioning is super inconvenient. This needs to be de-coupled from the (horrible) built-in nav system. Seriously, my 2006 Prius had a far superior built-in nav to the Genesis (but other than pre-conditioning, I don't really care, because I have multiple excellent CarPlay nav options).

The above two items are really the blockbusters for me. Anything else would just be gravy. But if you're still reading:

3. Wireless CarPlay would be very nice, but not a blockbuster for me. I've set up a very nice mount for my iPhone that makes wired CarPlay pretty easy.

4. Digital rear view mirror.

5. Improved UI for the Genesis iPhone app - it's kind of a hot mess right now.

6. A small light in the charging door would be useful - I keep an LED booklight in the car for this.

7. Ability to save camera recordings (i.e. dashcam) and monitoring while parked (aka Tesla sentry mode).

One last thing, it would be nice to get Supercharger access sooner rather than later, assuming that is still happening. But I don't suppose the theoretical Genesis/Hyundai executives reading this can do anything about that. But Hyundai is part of Ionna - let's get some chargers going guys!

By the way, if I was to make a list of things I love about my GV60 it would be much longer than the above list. It's so great it still gives me a thrill every time I get in.

Haven’t seen if the refresh will have this but really appreciated it when I plugged into a GV70 loaner and could see!

I'd like to have a walk away lock feature if holding the key. Obviously it wouldn't make sense if you're using biometrics to unlock and start the car, but if you're using the key fob, the GV60 already can sense when the key is nearby to unlock and present the door handles. Then if you don't enter the car, it will lock itself.

I want it to also lock itself when, after I've driven the car with the key fob in my pocket and parked, I turn off the car, get out, and walk away. This can be done with aftermarket accessories (at least for the Ioniq5 and EV6, but not the GV60), and it seems the car already has the hardware for the feature, so I would hope a software update could tell the car to lock itself when it doesn't sense the key inside the vehicle.

If Honda can figure out how to do it on the Civic, surely Genesis can as well. I get that you can lock it remotely with the connected services app if you forget and it sends you a push notification, but that requires usage of the 12V battery for which excessive use of it has been an ongoing issue with the EGMP cars. Auto locking on walk away would at least resolve this part.

If that was done I would want it to be possible to designate exceptions for specific locations - I don't want the car to auto-lock in my garage. Tesla does this perfectly.

However, it doesn't really bother me to have to push the door handle to lock.

I think having it as a toggled/checkbox option under the door/liftgate menu of the vehicle settings would be sufficient (like right underneath the checkbox for Approach Unlock). On a Honda or a Mazda, you can turn it on or off it the settings. Then the owner can decide whether to use it or not.

I have many thoughts to submit, but ultimately to do these things, they need to update their SW release processes to reguarly (monthly at a minimum) push OTA bug-fixes and feature drops. As far as features and fixes:

Allow automemory/recall of the ipedal setting + drive mode setting tied together the driver profile (I would like to keep 1 driver profile in full time 1-pedal driving with custom comfort/sport config, and the other driver's setting to Level 0 regen + eco driving because of the differing accelerator usage pattern).

Fix bugs around driver profile auto switching based on key fob used (i regularly see my profile for seat settings being the default with my partner's key fob, even though we set 2 profiles, each with different keys in the car at the time)

Faster responsiveness on actions sent from the mobile app to the vehicle, and faster interaction of the UI (the app needs to be completely rewritten UX wise)

Ability to kickoff OTA updates from mobile device when vehicle is already at the minimum update charge threshold (vs. having to go and click on the car console to accept the OTA update)

Wireless android auto/carplay (Bought a usb device as a workaround). Allow their map/route set in apple maps or google maps to integrate with charging stops along the route, and preconditioning automatically getting kicked off at the right time on those routes

Switchable usb power tab on the mirror - could be used for dashcams and radar detectors

Smartwatch digital key for both iOS and WearOS

dual phone wireless charger hardware for the phone charging slot - allow for driver + passenger wireless phone stowage/charging while driving

300 mile range on a charge for performance edition of vehicle

AI/natural language based voice commands + learning, for vehicle controls, smart route planning, smart scheduling, smart customer service etc. - the concierge can truly be virtual:

(e.g. "Genesis, please set my temperature to 70 and my front passenger to 72", or "Genesis, I'd like to go from my current location to pickup the kids at school and then go to their after school piano lessons at 123 main street" - and then next time have it recall that piano lessons location without me having to say the address. or "Genesis have my commute mapped to start at 8am tomorrow" and it automatically has the best route calculated based on current traffic conditions.

Also they could put more work into automated scheduling for customer service visits when recall notices are sent out e.g. 'a new service notice has been sent out, based on your google calendar, the following dates/times look available - would you like to schedule one of these dates with the dealership service center'....it isn't that hard any more to do this sort of smart integration.

As somebody coming from a much-loved Mach E, these are the things I miss the most:
  1. Having the next-turn from Android Auto navigation on the instrument cluster (and HUD)
  2. Walk-away locking
  3. More configurability for preferred charging time (At least I can't work out how to set different schedules for weekday vs. weekend...)
  4. Linking seat heating (and ventilation) to climate control settings for remote start and scheduled departure times (manual indicates there's a setting but it does not exist in my menus)
  5. Wireless Android Auto (mostly because I can't use a thumb drive for high-res/5.1 audio files and AA at the same time)
    1. I do not understand why there isn't a good place to put one's phone when it's plugged in for AA/CP. For now I've been putting it in the wireless charging slot upside down. Instead of a "card holder" at the front of the center console a vertical slot with a cable passthrough would make sense.
  6. I prefer the lane-keeping being tied to smart cruise control. When I disengage HDA, I'd like LKA to disengage at the same time.

Agreed on this - would like the option to link a profile to a key fob so that the car automatically switches profiles based on which key fob was used to unlock the car.

The aftermarket option from TheIoniqGuy claims to work with the GV60. I can PM a link.

I bought this mount specifically for the GV60. It was quite expensive (about $90) but I'm very happy with it. It's super solid, and put's the phone in a perfect position both out of the way and readily to hand.

I also got this coiled USB-C to lightning cable. So far it's held up well. There is also a USB-C to USB-C version.

I would HATE that. I basically want to use LKA all the time, except when I have the turn stalk engaged. I use LKA without HDA for portions of almost every drive. I think the ability to engage HDA and LKA separately is a huge plus for our vehicle. In fact, I think in the future I would rule out any car that didn't allow lane centering to be engaged separately.
