  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Open Letter to Genesis Motors - How I'd Improve the GV80

The black plastic housing that surrounds the driver's and front passenger's temp control dial is way too sensitive. I inadvertently turn on the seat cool/heating just about every time I adjust the temp.

Please change the round dials for the shifting and infotainment system! They are very similar and I continue to use the wrong one

The transmission in the [3.5T]. See [drive] BMW, Audi, et' al ZF implementations for a full explanation of what is being asked :) Even your own in-house DCT would be welcome.

For those of us who may be technically less savvy, what's your concern with the existing transmission. The one in my 3.5 seems smooth, responsive and seamless.

You’re lucky

Certainly not a complaint that the [3.5T] Transmission is a bad transmission by any means; and it does things well enough on a consistent bases. But since this is an improvement thread; if you have driven the ZF 8-speed especially in German OEM implementations, you'll see for yourself that there's plenty of room for improvement here.

The way the ZF can rip off lightning-fast [seamless] gear changes under heavy throttle inputs, and also execute undetectable gear changes under light throttle inputs - and switch between behaviors [mappings] immediately at any time - is not something [at least my] GV80 can do. So, that would be certainly be a welcome change IMO.

^ Doubt that will happen as Hyundai used the ZF8 in the original Genesis sedan, but later went with an in-house unit probably because of cost (but agree that the ZF8 is the standard when it comes to sporty ATs).

Anyhow, ETNews (a Korean tech publication) is reporting that the 2G GV80 based on the eM platform will be delayed by nearly 2 years, and that the life cycle of the current model will be lengthened and include a hybrid (no word on whether it will be an EREV like for the GV70 or a traditional HEV).

I thought of something else that's annoying. I have the driver seat easy access turned on, and it's normally fine. But the seat will not move forward when the passenger door is open. I either have to wait until the passenger door is closed before closing mine, or I have to start the car for the seat to move forward. Seems to me that the seat should move forward whether the passenger door is open or not.

I'd also like the seat to move back when I open the door and the car is on (in park). I often stop at my mailbox and get out without shutting off the car. I frequently bang my knee getting back in.

Both minor annoyances, but might as well add them to the list.

Are you the only drover? If so, easy fix. You have two memories. Make #2 with the seat back so when you get to the mailbox, just put in Park and press #2. Get back in, press #1. I've done that for years now.

Never had the passenger door situation.

As a new owner of a 2021 less then two months, increase leg room for middle seats. I was a previous Palisade owner the the second row had much more leg room.
Increase the the lights on console that light up (such as the recirculate button). It is very hard to see during daylight driving.
Bring the screen to the front of the dash. It is too far away, and also the sun hits it.
Upgrade the software for screen selections. I had more selections with my 2020 Palisade than I do now. If I am wrong, then simplify it.
Increase the room in the center console storage in both the underside and also the two opening doors.
The GV80 should be comparable in size to the Palisade, but it is not. How about widening about 2 inches and also several inches in length.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
GV80 is smaller than Palisade. GV80 is only 195" long vs Palisade 197". More importantly, The GV80 has a long nose due to the parallel engine placement and rear wheel drive. Whereas the Palisade is front wheel drive and has a transversal engine placement. So its cabin is significantly bigger. 155 sf vs GV80 109 sf.

Is this buyer's remorse? Which of the shortcomings you express were not apparent to you going in? If you wanted a GV90 and not a GV80, perhaps you should have waited for it?

Genesis Motors executives have been watching this community for years. They've also made improvements to their vehicles based upon what they've read here. They are listening to you.

This discussion will serve as a quick and easy way for Genesis Motors executives to gauge interest and help make decisions moving forward.

As a GV80 driver, you should state exactly what you'd like to see enhanced, added, and/or omitted from your Genesis GV80.

Any posts that don't stick to the subject matter will be moved elsewhere.

I would like to see three programable speed setpoints available. Most of my driving is either with 35 mph, 55 mph or 65 mph speed limits. Since I do a lot of driving on CC specially at lower speed limits. It would be nice to voice command “speed memory one” and it would be programmed to 35 mph. Yes, I know I could just make the adjustment manually it’s a difference of toggling a switch or pushing a button for voice. I prefer the latter. I’m glad they finally added lock touch points to all the doors.

One simple request, "FIX THE NAVIGATION". I have a Canadian 2021 GV80 3.5T Prestige, I took delivery of this vehicle Mid Dec/2020, the nav software was perfect or at least good at that time. Since then Genesis or "Here" has managed to completely screw it up. To top it off the latest update "Nov/23", they managed to give us the poorest version yet. Hopefully the newest update coming soon, "July/2024" is finally fixed, but I am not holding my breath. I suggest Genesis switch to another nav software supplier and NOW. Maybe "July/24" version will never come.
Or go back to an earlier version that worked, thank goodness we have Apple CarPlay.

The ability to re-arrange your pre-set radio stations as you want rather than them only being in the order you added them and not able to change that order.

Yes that radio deal is annoying, for as soon as I turn to one of them it automatically turns that station on. But then when I go and do the same in my wife’s GV70, I literally have to push to confirm..

- An option to adjust headlamp aim manually(I get flashed by oncoming vehicles even while on low-beam)
- Fix unintended acceleration with Adaptive cruise / HDA. Imagine your cruise set to 70 and you’re following a slow vehicle doing 65. Now when a fast vehicle (say doing 80) cuts you in, the GV80 thinks the slow car in front has suddenly started going faster and tries to accelerate you to 70, whereas the swerving car was in your lane for only a moment before swerving on to the next lane.
- Spare tire. At least a donut please. Already blew a tire with the 22 in wheels hitting a pothole. What should’ve been a 30 min quick stop turned out to be a day at the dealership getting new tires
- A bit more softer ride with the 22 in wheels or provide an optional smaller wheel with the top trim

On the 2025 GV80 make the marker LED's in the climate control display much brighter. Especially the blue markers for the ventilated seats.

The blue LED's in the climate control: make them brighter on the 2021 models too! And activate seat ventilation or seat heating - whichever is appropriate based on the current cabin temp - when remote starting the vehicle. Having the climate control engage AUTO mode at 72 deg is great... but I'd like the seat venting to kick in too to reduce the seat temps.
