  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

i'm looking to possibly getting an r spec 2013 or 14 if the ins co decides to total my car. i would rather have a standard 5.0 new 13, but all i can find is r spec's right now. question : is the r spec suspension that much stiffer or harsh compared to a standard 5.0 ? remember, i'm used to the 2009 standard 4.6 suspension which is harsh. will i feel an improvement w/ the 13 - 14 year models and what other changes will i see compared to my 2009 - better or worse changes. thanks.

ps i don't want to fork out the extra money for a 15 right now.

You only can find R Spec models because Hyundai only made the 5.0 in a non R Spec trim for 2012. The 5.0 Non R Spec is none kind of a rare car:) I'm guessing they didn't sell too many of the Non R Spec models, so they just made the R Spec a standard since this seems to be what sold well.. Good luck:) I'm installing the 2012+ R Spec suspension in my car later this month. Looking forward to the change from the 2009 suspension.

You need to find an example of both cars and go drive them. There are too many variables to make a blanket statement about one versus the other. Things like tire type, road condition, how you drive (spirited vs normal) will make a lot of difference on how the car feels.

I have a '12 R-spec and it rides a bit rough on roads which are not smooth however I prefer the control over the floater type suspension. Compared to my cousins '12 3.8 it isn't a whole bunch different. His is a bit less bumpy but not very noticeable and that might just be in the tire difference.

As Scott mentioned, there is no 2013 5.0 non R-Spec. I think you will find the 2013 V6 3.8 suspension to be noticeably more comfortable than an R-Spec, unless you are talking about smooth roads. Same applies to 2014's.

2012 4.6 is the last model year pre 2015 of V8 non-Rspec.

I believe that they also made some 5.0 non-Rpecs in 2012. It was a strange year.

+1 - 2012 had both the 4.6 V8 and 5.0 V8 (non R-spec). I drove them both.
