  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Other cool cars like the G70

Thanks, but I love my G70, and if both of these were on the market and I had to make a decision today, I'd still go with the G70. Acura always gets tech right though, so the tech will be ahead, at least until the 2022.

Maybe it will be under-rated and the 10 speed will make up the difference... I suspect it will be a great all-rounder and mid pack in performance numbers.

I had a feeling the numbers wouldn't be very impressive once officially announced. That's too bad, they should've went for that 400!
Nothing a jb4 can't fix I suppose.

Looks like the new RS3 is the only thing I'll be considering. They're saying 415HP and a "Drift Mode."

And that 5 cylinder. 👌

I haven’t driven all of these cars. Without regard to only HP/torque/0-60 times, here are some sentence fragments for your reading pleasure (or displeasure):

Kia Stinger: Bloated G70. Suspension too soft. Interior is OK, but quality of materials is subpar.

M340i: Ooh, silky smooth straight 6. Huge power. Flat cornering, but ride is less comfortable. Great technology but, in typical BMW fashion, over engineered. Styling isn’t for everyone. Seats are great.

S4/S5: Sedan styling just OK, but coupe is elegant. Luxurious interior, but may not age well. AWD system isn’t as rear biased as BMW. Infotainment is love it or hate it. V6 sounds good, but lots of turbo lag and poor throttle mapping.

CT5-V: Big improvement over prior Cadillacs, but that’s not saying much. Interior quality is catching up, but still not there. Transmission tuning is behind others. Questionable reliability.

TLX Type S: Basically, an expensive Honda. Improvement in styling over recent Acuras, but still a bit polarizing. Unimpeachable reliability.

C43 AMG: Some love the styling, others hate it. Very sporty suspension and exhaust, which might get tiresome after a while. Interior styling is beautiful, but material quality is lacking in some areas. Too much alcantara.

I had the pleasure of enjoying a C63s for a week. While not comparable in terms of performance, that interior is horrid. The rattles and creaks. Yuk.

Speaking of Mercedes, has anyone driven the C43 AMG?

Yes, loved it. Great interior. Not as nice exterior but still nice.

The C43 "feels" as fast as it is. Great sounds. The G70 to me is fast but doesn't feel as fast as it is..

Jalopnik TLX Review. Paying particular attention to this as I'm an ex-Acura guy. Apparently the stereo sounds pretty good. Then again, I love the G70 stereo, especially with some augmented low frequency.

Ok, not the same class but the fun factor looks like a 10. Worth a test drive for sure.

G70N soon??

I love that spider graph to tune your driving preferences! That is absolutely brilliant.

Considering that there are the G80 Sport and GV70 Sport on the way, a G70 Sport should also be forthcoming.

So, comparable with the lesser M and AMG models.

For those wanting greater performance, there's the prospect of an electric G70.

Going back to the TLX, the Sonata N-Line is quicker to 60 and the quarter mile.

MT got a 0-60 time of 5.3s for the Sonata and a really slow 7s time for the TLX.

Let's say that MT's time for the TLX is an anomaly, but C/D (known for their quick 0-60 times got 5.9s for the TLX 2.0T); likely will see something like 5s for the N-Line when C/D does their test.

And not only is it a good bit quicker, one reviewer liked it better than the TLX, despite not having an LSD...

Taken in sum, the Sonata N Line is a marvelous sport sedan that drives better than some vehicles one class up – for example, the Hyundai boasted more balance than the Acura TLX SH-AWD I drove on the same stretch of road a few weeks ago, allowing me to attack the curves with more confidence.

The Sonata keeps understeer in check marvelously, although there’s no limited-slip front differential or brake-based torque vectoring to prevent a one-tire fire if traction control is disengaged – in Sport mode, the electronic nannies do little to blunt the fun, so just leave ‘em active and you’ll have nothing to complain about.

And others have stated that there are things about it that are as good (if not better) than the 3 Series.

True, but in fairness there's probably a Type S version of the TLX incoming.

^ yeah, and that Type S will have an even greater front weight bias than does the 2.0T trim which is already 57%F/43%R. my guess is it will be closer to 60/40 after they drop in the turbo V6 and other bits. and it will weight more that the 2.0T trim which is already 4000+lbs. it's already heavier than the BMW 530i, so expect the Type S to come in at 4200+lbs. that's Dodge Charger territory...
