  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Were you at the corner of Leitrim and Hawthorne yesterday (Sunday) at 13:30? If not, there's another beige Genesis around. I haven't seen another on the road since Christmas but also spotted a black one in Montreal on Saturday.

The one you saw on Saturday could be mine (I live in the West Island) ...a black on black Genesis, 3.8L with Tech package, TSW 19" chrome wheels and low profile tires. Funny though, I've had my Genesis since August 31, 2008 and I have not seen a single Genesis on the road (in either Montreal or Ottawa) since.

Took delivery of my 3.8 TECH in Brantford a month ago. The only Genesis I've seen was a quick glimpse while visiting in Ottawa of a black one with the Genesis wings mod on the trunk. Looked good, waiting for mine to arrive.
Been very happy, everything works great. Ride a little firm but no big deal. A big old Caddie it ain't

Bernie - You would remember if it was you. I flashed my lights and he flashed back as we passed in opposite directions on Lakeshore Rd. where Pte-Claire & Beaconsfield meet around 2:00 on Saturday.

RW - I added the wings in front and replaced the H in back. I might have to change it back to return the car when my lease is up. Everything is great but I agree the suspension is too bouncy on rough roads. I have to drive Limebank every day which is uncomfortable in any car but in the Genny, it's hard to talk or breathe while driving. I'm going to try to find an address for the CEO of Hyundai Canada and suggest he read this forum. My wife spotted 2 black ones a few weeks back - one with tinted windows, one without (she's a Genny-hawk). And I saw my first coupe on Riverside today; a white one. Hope you're getting used to the ride and not dreading putting on your summer tires.

Waki - Follow the instructions on this forum to change the wings and it'll take 30 minutes.

Mike:

Sorry to hear that you are also experiencing suspension issues with your Genny. I am dreading the change back to the summer tires and fear that it may just push me over the edge with this car. I've already started looking at other cars but have not yet taken any action to try to get out of my lease. I am hoping that Hyundai may come up with a fix for the problem but am not optimistic. If they don't find a way to improve the ride I will probably not keep this car through another winter. The one saving grace is that the ride seems to be somewhat better in the warmer weather. In fact when I did all my test drives, it was late August/early September last year and while there was one incident on one test drive that caused me some concern, when I took the same car over the same place, it did not repeat the problem.

Will send you a PM in the next day or two about contacting Hyundai Canada.

Sent an email to Hyundai Canada in early March 09. Received a "polite" answer that they are "looking" into it. Mentionned to the Canadian Hyundai folks that their US counterparts are handling this issue thru a re-imbursement procedure. Hard to say by the reply I got whether or not they will ever do anything with this.

Here's the reply I got....

Subject: RE: Missing Speaker Cover in Trunk of Genesis

Thank you for your e-mail. We are currently looking into this matter. Please be advised we will write you back once we do find some more information about this reimbursement. Our management here at Hyundai Canada are not aware of this reimbursement procedure. Thank you.

Regards,

Jenny

I also sent an e-mail to Hyundai Canada customer service re: the speaker cover and mentioned the US customers were getting reimbursements. The response was something like: "We do not offer any such program. Thank you for your inquiry."

Hi everyone,

I'm a new Genesis owner from the Algonquin Collage area. I just picked up my blue 2.0GT last Friday and I like it. Its my first ever standard car and what a car to start teaching urself standard with lol. I had no problems with the car and driving stick is not hard at all.

I know this car has been around for a couple of months now but I haven't yet seen one on the road or anywhere else. The dealer told me they been selling them but where are all u hiding.

We should all get together somewhere and have a little Genesis group since its almost summer outside. What do u guys think?

I am looking to buy a trailer hitch to carry my bikes. Any suggestions where I should go?

Just from doing a quick online search I see Reese (http://www.reeseprod.com/) have a hitch for the Genesis (part#06659). A lot of places sell Reese hitches, including U-Haul and Canadian Tire.

Hidden Hitch (whose website is amazingly similar to Reese's http://www.hiddenhitch.com/) also has one, part #90196.

Draw-Tite (http://www.draw-tite.com/) also has one and I'm quite certain they're all different brands of the same company because, again, the website is eerily familiar. Part #36486.

Curt Manufacturing (thankfully looks like competition http://www.curtmfg.com/index.cfm?event=hitch) also have one, part #12086.

All seem to be Class II hitches, rated to 3500lbs. Prices online seem to hover between $100 and $200USD.

Once you have the hitch you can find a bike rack that fits it from a number of manufacturers, including Thule (http://www.thuleracks.com/fg_hitch1...ar_id=9094&receiver=1.25&sport=22&factory_id=). Outdoor stores are good for that although you may end up paying a lot. Online may be your best bet for those since they don't really require any fancy instalation..

My dad just got his installed... and wasn't charged by the dealer.

Hi everyone.

Just in the process of trading my 04 Tiburon in for a 2.0T GT Coupe.

I'm pretty familiar with the Hyundai community, and have been an Admin over on newtiburon.com for a few years now. Here's the Tiburon I've had which I'm trading in:

Anyway, looking forward to joining the community.

Anyone heading to any of the Auto-X events at Scotiabank Place? I'm also hoping to hit Calabogie before the end of the season.

Hi fellow Ottawans!

Picked up our Genesis 3.8 last Friday. We are in Beacon Hill North.

The suspension seems fine to me. We traded in our Buick Allure and we still have an Acura RSX sports coupe. The ride is not as cushy as the Buick's was but is much softer than the Acura's.

Strangely, the daytime running lights do not come on and our fog lights don't come on either. I will take the car back in to get these things fixed.

My dad just had his Genesis in for the DRLs not working. They said some kind of connector was loose or something...

... but his worked fine for months, unlike yours. Weird.

Did you get yours at Pathway?

Talk to André or Gordon in service. They oversaw the fixing of my dad's DRLs, which apparently was quite a challenge, but now I think there are at least two techs at Pathway who are experts in Genesis DRL system. :)

Thanx but I have already taken the car in now. I contacted the salesman who sold us the car. He called in the head of the service dept. I have to assume he will know who knows how to fix this problem.

I just picked up the 4.6 V8 tech package genesis on Friday. I am in Ottawa. I had only noticed one other one in a parking lot, stopped, knocked on his window and asked how he liked it. He, like me so far, loved it. See ya on the Ottawa roads.

Welcome to the club. Where did you get your car? Bank St., Pathway or Myers? Did you get a 2009 or one of the first 2010's?

There aren't a lot of Genny's in Ottawa as far as I can tell. I've started seeing a few now and then but usually just a glance as somebody flashes by. For the first time since I got my car over a year ago, I actually wound up following another Genesis on the road. I followed somebody for about 3 Km's southbound on Prince of Wales Dr and then we both turned west onto Huntclub for a block or two. Couldn't tell if it was a black one or dark blue since it was dark.

Hope you enjoy your car.

I've seen a bunch of light-coloured ones... including, interestingly enough, one with diplomatic (red) plates.
