  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Overly sensitive traction control?

2016 genny with htrac, I'm finding the traction control goes on with the slightest little loss of traction. I'm finding it is actually dangerous. For example, leaving a gas station on the side of the highway you have to speed up rapidly to match traffic speed. Many times when I do this the rear tire may very very slightly spin a hair on some loose gravel or something, then traction control kicks in and suddenly I have no power at all for several seconds. I do see the traction light going on in the dash. So now I'm stuck on a NJ highway where everyone drives 90mph and there are no merge lanes with no power, great.

I'd really like to avoid turning off traction control every time I'm in the car, plus why bother having this safety feature if I'm turning it off. My previous car, an Audi A6 had traction control and it was very difficult to get that to go off, certainly a little gravel on the side of the road wouldn't cause it to go off.

Any tips, or adjustments that I can make? Anyone else experiencing this?

Yes - it's overly sensitive and too aggressive - I have had the exact same experience as you. I now turn off TCS and ESC when I have to "gun it" where I might hit a bump on exit (low curb, small pothole) or loose gravel, etc.,

Sounds like some softer tires are in order too...

No issues like this in the AWD :)

Ummmm... we both have AWD - so what is your point?

Mine kicked in after a 50-80 mph sprint to pass a car in Sport mode. Actually, it kicked in when I darted over to another lane to pass said car. I was like...wtf...I don't feel that any grip was lost?

This was after the upgrade to the 285 max performance summer tires, so yea...

I don't like turning the nannys off completely because if you floor it, the tires will chirp.

Double post - disregard

Damn! same thing here! 285 in rear, high performance summer tires and that thing is way too sensitive!

Only way to avoid this, is to turn traction and stability control off!

Odd - I didn't realize the OP had AWD. Read it again and there it is. *shrugs* I dunno.... I haven't had any issues like this, and I have intentionally tried to kick it in and/or break it loose. It has been perfectly well behaved and very quick - even on the gravel road I took it on over the weekend. When it would get a little loose - it would retard the power just a hair - but still be pulling hard ahead & redirect power around to the other wheels.

Honestly - after that bit of fun - I think the G2 would be a lot of fun as a rally car :D

I can't say I've experienced this issue either. But then I haven't really gone full throttle from low speed on gravel. Mostly I find the grip impressive and the AWD seamless. I guess I'll see if the traction control is overly sensitive come winter.

I have not found it too intrusive except in one place on my way to work. Coming out of an entrance making a 90 degree turn, the sidewalk is rather high and if I am on the gas a little more than normal it will kick in after the rear wheel passes over the sidewalk to the road. Yep, no power as in dead for about 4 seconds or so which seems like forever when trying to squeeze into traffic.
