  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Painted My Roof Black....Pics...

I have no idea why that damn possum jumped out in front of me...Maybe he was double dared by one of his possum buddies... :D

I had been wanting to paint it black or get it vinyl wrapped for a while, so doing it while the bumper was getting repaired made sense.

Some more pics from today. I finally removed the V8 badge from the back. honestly was never too fond of it anyways.

You may notice that my window tint on the front two windows is lighter than the back. I really hate that it;s not the same all around; However, I have two kids under 4 yrs old that spend a good amount of time in the back and it's sunny in Florida. I think the car would look aesthetically better with 30% tint all around.

your wheels and tires are fantastic. please tell me where you got them and how much.

thanks, bud in sc

i'm going to be a contrarian and say that i think the car would have looked better with the black roof combined with stock rims and winged badges. i'll give you the custom exhaust however. ohh and let me just drop this here:

Trust me, that guys is not Infantry!... LMAO though, cause the look on the Marine, trying not to bust out laughing, is classic.

I really wanted the car to stand out, but not in a "VIP" or other obvious aftermarket way. I was doing my best to give it a look of a car that has been modded by the factory. Subtle, but aggressive like an M-Series or AMG.

The black roof and wheels on your car are also-rans when compared to the sound your exhaust makes. If I had heard your car before I bought my V6, I woulda bought a V8. Believe me guys, the best part about that car can't be put in pictures.

LOL....Thanks. (BTW..Nice to meet you. hope you and your family had a good time down here in Florida)
I'm really biased, obviously, but to me it's the perfect blend of exhaust tone & resonance. My first exhaust set-up had entirely too much cabin drone. It was unbearable.
My current set up is deep, idle sound hints that it's a V8, and highway drone is minimal.
I even deleted the secondary cats.

I'll see about getting the part # for the Magnaflow mufflers I used. I'm pretty sure they were designed to fit the 03 & 04 Mustang Cobra. They had to have inlet and outlet on same side so that the rest of the oval shaped muffler could be tucked up into the stock muffler space.

This picture was prior to removing the secondary cats.

Looks really cool! Nice wheels too.

Wow! you brought back a thread from the dead....LOL..

here's another picture that shows the roof better:

Doesn't look cool to me, looks hot, especially in the FL sun. On a sunny day, the black paint is going to be about 50 F higher than the silver.

Luckily for me, I ride INSIDE the car...I had thought about riding on the roof, but reaching the vehicle controls would be impossible.....besides, that black roof absorbs a lot of the sun's heat and sitting on it would probably burn my rear end.

I already have a black roof... And with tints, my car is not significantly hotter in the summer when compared to a silver car I previously owned.

I was specifically referring to FL, where the sun is quite intense in the summer.

Here is info about school buses that have roofs painted white (instead of yellow like the rest of the bus). Obviously, the difference would be far greater if buses were originally painted black:

"Painting the bus tops white dropped the interior temperature an average of 10 degrees during the summer, with as much as a 17-degree difference at peak hours. Wintertime temperatures were lower by only 3 to 4 degrees.

The study also found that children behaved better on buses in cooler temperatures..."

Please note that this refers only to school buses, and I am not making any claims about light colored roofs improving the behavior of any members of this forum.

Scott isn't on the site anymore, but this was what convinced me to paint mine.

I really like how the roof sets off the car.

One thing I did different was also paint the roof molding that goes down to the bottom of windshield like the G2 models that have the panoramic roof

Alternative to painting black

Didn't paint my roof black but did do something different to it. Not sure many people have seen it since it was only posted on this thread Roof Moulding Uneven / Bowed. Buddy of mine wrapped it in Avery SW900 Brushed Steel back in March. Wanted the brushed to match the brushed Smoked Lead Lips of my wheels.

Assuming you're talking about the last picture in my post. It was taken at the BTR Tuning event at RPM Motorsports in Garner earlier this year. Link to all the pictures if interested.
