If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Does anyone know why I cant get my pano sunroof to do anything other than vent? I feel like its gotta be something stupid that im missing but I cant seem to even find the switch to open it!

Push front of button front to back to open - Push back of button "up" to vent.
I had a heck of a time figuring that there was a separate switch to open/close the sunroof inside cover!

Ok thank you! I figured the inside cover out on my quest to open the sunroof! (y)

Enjoy your pano crap while you can. My 2016 had the entire roof replaced in 2017 due to rattles and creaks etc. It is now going on week 4 of trying to get it into the dealer to get the roof replaced AGAIN! Rattles like never before. And I am getting the BS story of "we have no loaner cars". WTF kind of dealership doesn't have loaner cars? Will be my last Genesis and Hyundia dealer experience ever.

Another thread-crapping story of "This will be my last Genesis and Hyundai ever!" Yeah, you hate Hyundai. You hate Genesis. You think the dealers suck. Blah, blah, blah. Move on. No need to crap everywhere on your way out.

No need to crap everywhere on the way out because the Hyundia/Genesis company will supply you with all the crap you seem to like to eat from them and he dealers. Another one who sits in the dark and asks to be fed more shit. Enjoy you meals...... Its people like you who let these companies and dealers get away with everything they do because you don't have the balls to open your mouth and complain and TRY TO MAKE THINGS BETTER. Just sit back and ask for more.

So does it rattle in all positions? Shut, Open, Vented? What do they think is causing the rattle?

no issues with rattles in mine.

for opening, pull the sunroof button toward you, it will open the shade, then the pano.

to close push it toward the windshield and the pano will close, once the pano is closed push the same button again and the shade will close.

to vent push the button up toward the celling.

you can also just open the shade with the shade controls, or close it with the shade controls. personally I have never touched that button, I leave the shade closed unless the roof is open.

some helpful information.. the pano glass gets very HOT, when parked in direct sunlight on warm days, it is best to cool the interior before opening the shade to prevent the glass from shattering.

On my fifth Hyundai/Genesis car from two different dealers. Three with the pano roof. My next may be a 2020 G80. I buy them because of all the cars I've owned they have been the best quality and the dealers have been very good too.

I leave the shade open all but about 4". That little bit of cover is just enough to keep the sun out of my eyes in summer.

No rattles but I never open it.

I was reading an article about the shattering pano's from multiple makes, one of the concerns was how hot the glass roof gets in the south west states. easily 140°-170° in 90°+ temps. and if you blow cold air directly on it (which is completely possible if your vents are aimed up) the immediate cold air on the hot glass can cause it to shatter.

The article suggested that this may be a contributing factor, same with very cold temps and blowing hot air from the heater on it. The suggestion was to leave the shade closed until the vehicle interior was properly heated or cooled equalizing the temp of the glass with the interior of the car.

---

I had my pano glass tinted with 3M Crystalline 20%, this has helped reduce the temp of the pano glass significantly, I used a laser thermometer the day I had the tint done after 2 hours in 94° heat and the glass was 165° on the inside, the next day, same outside temps and car had been sitting for 5-6 hours in direct sunlight and the glass inside was 108°; that's about a 55% decrease in temp 3m advertises 62%. Plus with the 20% I can keep the shade open all the way and not have glare.

I have the same tint on my house windows, and we measured a significant drop in interior temps in the home during 90°+ days in our southeast facing entry room that has a huge picture window. The first year after we bought the house during the summer we couldn't cool that room below 90° during the summer, even with AC running full time.. After the tint that room stays a constant 80° in 100°+ temps with no AC..

Never thought the glass would get that hot. I'm going to do some measurements on mine. We are past the worst days of summer now though. Was that with the shade closed? I wonder how much difference that would make.

I can see blowing air directly would have impact, but if you do cool the interior but still have a layer of heated air above the liner, I have to wonder if opening it too soon would even be worse.

yes with shade closed.

equalizing the temp with shade closed seems to help, the shade isn't air tight, but it does trap heat.

There is a significant difference between blowing cold air directly and equalizing the interior temp by slowly cooling.

I have asked a local shop for a quote to tint with that 3M that you were talking about. How much did you pay?
Thanks

too much..

$550 for the whole car. front and rear sides and quarter windows, rear windshield, and pano. 20% all a round. I'm guessing the pano was the most costly as it is the largest surface area.. I would estimate $150-$200 of my charge was the pano. When I did the wife's Camry, it was all but the sunroof and hers was $380 for 7 windows.

I've used the same guy for all my cars and my house for the last 12 years, so I know he gave me about a break on the price, because when I did mine, there was a Lexus IS getting the same tint on the same windows as mine for the except the sunroof, and his install was the same price as mine..

Thanks alot for the info on the shattering sun roofs! You might have just saved a mess and injuries in my car!

don't freak out about it, just an FYI.. I love my Pano roof.. I just know there are a lot of reported issues with them, from all manufacturers.
