I read the owner's manual and it states to: 1) Put the car in park while pressing down on the brake pedal; 2) While continuing to press down on the brake pedal, engage the parking brake; 3) release the pedal. This ensures that the car is being held by the parking brake and not the transmission.
I'm not sure if it's due to the large weight of the car, but whenever I follow this, my car still rocks forward and back like as if my parking brake hasn't been engaged. This didn't happen on my previous cars. Could it be that the parking brake needs the wires tightened, or is this normal for the genny? I'm going to the dealer this week to get an oil change so I might ask them to take a look, but was just curious.
