  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I just noticed today that my front and rear parking assist sensors are no longer beeping?

Not sure if its a problem or maybe somehow got shut off.

Anyone else had the same issue?

Thanks

Are you certain you have not deactivated this feature with the button located to the lower left of the steering wheel? Far left button on the V8 w/Tech. The button has a P w/radio waves on it. Button needs to be pressed in. Can easily be deactivated when cleaning this area or simply accidentally hitting the button.

D'Oh!! You just hit the nail on MY head. I forgot all about that switch, and last night I WAS cleaning the inside of the car and probably turned it off without realizing it when I was wiping that area

WHAT A DUMB ASS I AM ! :o

Thanks for the reply!

Perhaps we should form a "Dumb Ass Club." After leaving the car wash yesterday I drove home and pulled into my the garage. As I was a few feet from approaching my line-up mark on the wall, the car started to beep, then the beeping stopped and the tone was constant. I immediately stopped, put the car in reverse, back out and the tone ceased. Pulled forward and it started again. Put the car in neutral and the sound went away. Sat there puzzled. Finally found a little blue light on the left side of the dash I had never seen before. Pushed the switch, the light went off, put the car in Drive and, voila, no beep. It was at that point I remembered that my 4.6/Tech came with parking sensors. Apparently, the kid at the car wash who dusted the dash activated the button that had NEVER been on during the seven months I have had the car.

So should we form a "Dumb Ass Club?" If so, I suppose I should be the President since I was the more prominent dumb ass? http://genesisowners.com/hyundai-genesis-forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

OK, I get it. So let me ask my dumbass question about the parking assist feature. Is it OK to leave the button on (all the time)? I keep forgetting to turn it on when backing out of the garage. I haven't found anything the documentation to suggest this would be wrong or right.

BTW, bilmat, there is absolutely nothing wrong in saving good features on the car until later (even seven months later).

Yes, you can leave it on all of the time. I only turn mine off when I'm driving and it annoys me (such as when I pull up to someone's bumper at a light and it would tone at me far too long...or when someone walks right in front of the car).

The long term test for the Genesis over on the Edmunds forum noted that they had no trouble with the Genesis until the last 180 miles when the trunk wouldn't open. Of course they accidently pushed the button in the glove compartment and deactivated all the trunk buttons. They should be nominated for the "Dumb Ass" club LOL

I leave mine on all the time. It helps my wife when she is parking, and also scares the crap out of me when she is parking!

Nice guy, Moose! LMAO There IS a solution for this problem, Moose. Think about it!:p

I leave mine on all the time. The only time I turn it off is when I am driving in heavy falling snow. The big flakes have a tendency to set off the alarm.

OK you can be President of the Dumb Ass club since I have only had my Genny a month :D , I'll be the VP.

We should start a new "Dumb Ass Moments" thread. That sure would be some funny reading.

"Dumb ass" would have been having the alarm off and driving into something because you were waiting for the alarm to sound before you stopped the car!

There are still a few bells and whistles on this car that I discover as the miles pile on.

I read the reply about the parking assist sensors and I have a question. Instead of them not working it doesn't stop beeping. I did hit the bumper there isn't any physical damage. Do they need to be replaced or is there something else I can try? Also, I know its one of the 2 middle ones but just not which one or both?

Today, when I started the car and put it into reverse the buzzer sounded when backing out, but when I put it in drive, it kept buzzing intermittently with the green light on the dash blinking. As I drove, it would come on and buzz and flash but would go away for a while then come back. I read in the manual that sometimes when you put in in reverse the system malfunctions, which is odd, unless it was a defect when they made the car and Hyundai knows that this is a problem. Any answers, or should I just take it to the dealer if it continues.

Almost 11 years later and this post is still saving lives! Thanks!
