If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Started up my car for the drive home from work and heard three distinct chimes that I've never heard before, followed by a flashing green area in front of the bumper in the MFD. Anybody have this symptom before?

This is the "cricket" I want to use a shotgun on. It's intermittent and sees affected by temperature. :(

Sounds like a common problem huh? Never had the issue until now.

Had this problem after the first snow this past winter. Searched the forum and found some posts indicating that this sometimes happens when the weather gets extremely cold. Took a video of it and took the car to the dealer. They immediately tried to tell me that it was my hard-wired radar detector and that it "fried" the circuit board. Sure...except for the fact that everything else worked perfectly fine as always, and that the symptoms were consistent with what other owners have experienced.

Anyway, they had the car for two weeks, never giving me any real info other than that they were ordering parts from Korea. They did say that there are actually three different types of sensors involved, plus the module. When I finally got to pick up the car, they told me that it was about $3,000 worth of repairs, and that even though it shouldn't be covered under warranty (car had about 2,500 miles on it at that point) because I supposedly fried it, they would cover it anyway, and my rental car.

Frankly, I don't think the techs know enough about the Genesis, and just didn't know how to diagnose the root cause or how to fix it, so they just ended up replacing the whole system and writing it off as a warranty repair.

Re: Parking Sensors Toasted?

I was experiencing the same problem. False warning, green light. Now, while waiting to take it in, the system is total toast. Can be switched on and off, indicates OK, but it's dead.
Waiting to hear from Hyundai.

Titanium...
As you can see I have the identical problem. Is yours fixed and what did they do. I'm going in next week....
Thanks,

UPDATE: Took car in this morning for my appointment that I had made. Of course, the system wasn't indicating a malfunction at the time I dropped it off and everything checked out fine. If it does it again (has done it 2 more times since my first post), I'm going to drive it straight to the dealer without shutting it off.

Well, it did it again. So this time, I took it in without shutting it off. They said a fault for the front, right center sensor was showing up. They put it on order so we'll see if it fixes it.

So, did it fix it?

BTW, what "package" does the parking sensors come with?

I have a 2010 4.6L w/Tech and don't know much about it yet (bought used 2 weeks ago). Just wondering if I have anything like that :)

I think we can determine by the number of posts that this is now a common problem. I understand they have to remove the front bumper to replace the sensors. Taking mine in tomorrow. Hope they don't break anything else. It will be nice to drive without the chirping every time I hit the brakes.

Yes, the right center sensor was replaced and it fixed it.

Your car has the sensors.

This is a fairly common problem. Faulty sensor, front. Easily replaced, bumper does NOT have to be removed. 15 minute job.:)

The parking sensor issue is back. The failure is indicating in the same exact area, front-center sensors. Took a vid of it and I'm hoping that it's still failing tomorrow to take it in. Last time, the dealer wouldn't do squat unless the failure was active when I brought it in.

Here is a vid from tonight (12/25). Merry Christmas to me:

My dealer replaced the sensor with exactly the same kind of video as you have here.

That's fine that they can/will replace the sensor. What concerns me, is the fact that this happened 6 months ago in the same exact area. If the sensor is truly bad again, that's just piss poor QC. I can understand once, but twice or more isn't acceptable. This reminds me of the brake switch saga Hyundai dealt with for some time, if it does turn out to be a faulty sensor again.

Does anybody have a wiring diagram of the parking sensor system? I'm trying to figure out which fuse powers it. I need to disable the annoying chime the car makes before we go on this road trip.

Are you referring to the beeping from the parking sensors? If so, just turn them off via the button on the dash, far left side in line with the steering column. If it's something else, then...

No, not the normal beep when an object comes within distance to the bumpers. Every time you turn your car on, the Genesis performs a self-check of the sensors to ensure they are okay. If any one of the eight fail, the chime (like the one on the video in post 14) emits upon engine start and every single time the car speed is 10mph or below. It's very annoying, especially when wanting to take the vehicle on a 9 hour road trip. :(

Does it do that even when they're turned off? I can't recall from when mine were out a year ago.
