  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Anyone have any ideas or suggestions around how to permanently disable the auto start / stop function? Today, I'm manually pressing the button to the left of the steering wheel, but I'd like to turn it off for good.

Find a way to keep the button pressed at all times. Can be as simple as wedging a piece of paper to keep the button pressed or you can open the panel and short out the switch.

I wedged one of the plastic tabs that comes on a loaf of bread in the top after depressing the switch. It's been in there for 3000 miles. I probably wouldn't except that look but fortunately the switch is where it is on the GV70.

To add on top of that, you could find a black colored one (or paint it) to help make it more unnoticeable.

Curious about auto start. At times, can't put my finger on it, but the video display comes on and rpm is shown.
I also notice the car doesn't always auto off/start, like when cold out for one.

When you push the start button with your other hand push that button, it is like 2nd nature now for me.

There are parameters for both ambient and engine temperature to be met first.
There is a lot of parameters aside from temperature. Brake pedal position, engine rpm, AC compressor, etc.

Just curious, what is it about start/stop do you not like? This seems to be a feature that many feel very strongly about.
My first car that had it was a 2012 BMW X3. The start/stop was very noticeable and there was a distinct lag accelerating from a stop. I did find that very annoying.
I have an 2018 Audi Q5, and the start/stop is hardly noticeable.
Same with the GV70. Maybe I've just gotten used to it?

I wish I could remember the page number but your manual tells you how and when ISG works.

Take a look into Autostop Eliminator - Disable The Auto Start Stop Feature - they might not have one available yet for the GV70, but I installed one on my Outback and my Cherokee and it’s the greatest thing EVER. I hate when government over reach tells me when my car should be running, AND I won’t have to replace the starter in a year!

I hate the autostop function. My 2021 Ford Explorer ST had it also, but when the car was in sport mode it would turn off automatically which was fine for me because I always drove it in sport mode. On the GV70, unfortunately it does not turn off on any mode automatically except when put into the sport+ mode.

I ended up doing what some of the other folks on this thread have suggested, and I put a small piece of plastic to wedge the button in a constant pushed-in state. I took an old black gift card, and cut a small piece. See photo. The computer module seems interesting, but I always get a little nervous about using a 3rd party computer mod. IMG_0799D.webp

Hi all. I've purchased this device and it's working great. No splicing of wires is needed.

GV70 ISG Auto-Disabler
Was this easy to install? I am the most non-mechanically inclined person when it comes to this stuff but this seems pretty easy at first glance? Even something this simple, I'd be inclined to worry about screwing up the dash/cover etc. and either crack that plastic piece or worse. Would be worth whatever someone was willing to charge me so I knew I wouldn't screw it up. I know me

I love the videos for that product. "Don't get embarrassed". It seems to link your manhood with your car auto-stopping. How embarrassing!

I haven't seen someone that humiliated on film since the guy who, in front of his wife, couldn't rip the tupperware bowl with his bare hands in Napolean Dynamite.

Update: I purchased this ISG Auto-Disabler. Was able to install via the Dashboard side panel, left of the ISG control. A bit difficult due to limited access, but you are assured of not breaking the front panel which has several controls.

This device is Plug and play. Works great. Disables ISG automatically within 5 seconds of starting the vehicle. And as a bonus you can still enable ISG after if you so desire.

Has anyone found one of these modules (ISG Auto-Disable) that will work with a 2021 G80? I searched the web and could not find one.

I also read that another solution (other than one of those auto-disable modules, or wedging a piece of plastic in the button) would be to disconnect the wire from the battery that is used to report low voltage - effectively faking out the system to believe that the battery is low and therefore not activating auto stop. Anyone try this on a G80?

I too intensely dislike the auto stop feature, and don't always remember to press the button (to disable it) every time I start the car.

I looked into the pinout for the GV80 for my neighbor and it is the same as the GV70. I think the G80 is likely the same pinout and would work with the GV70 ISG Auto-Disable device. Could you post a picture of the ISB switch panel?
