  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Pics of my G70

It did feel cramped in the back. I hope it does not affect the G70 sales that much as I don't see a solution until next iteration ~4 years away? Maybe raising the front seats will do the trick in the meanwhile as others have said.

As WhoIsHomer said, raising the front seat definitely makes a difference for toe room.

That's good to hear. May not work for the taller drivers but it should help for at least some folks.

The foot space issue can definitely be relieved by adjusting the front seat.

During my test drive, I had my wife (5'6") drive around for a bit while I hopped in the back seat behind her. As soon as she adjusted the seats to her driving position, the foot area was freed up significantly and I could sit comfortably and had enough space to move my feet around.

You are definitely at the mercy of the driver/front passenger when it comes to foot/toe space... It's a trade off between allowing the greater range of motion in the adjustments of the front seats vs restricting the height of the lowest setting to ensure adequate foot space. I feel like the decision to allow the seat to go so low will work against it in showrooms since it will give a bad initial impression of the rear seating space more often than not because the front seat will always be adjusted lower and further back than in real practical situations.

Hey Whoishomer

What trim of G70 did you get ??

What are your initial thoughts??

I got the fully loaded Sport.

I drove the car home, then to the detail shop for xpel, tint and nano coating. haven't gotten it back yet so I can't really comment on the car much at this point!
Some pics of the progress

Of course now I'm thinking I'll have my foot clearly under the front seat and the driver decides to lower their seat, ouch!!

Nice you will have to post pics once yours is all done
The nano/ceramic coating is just a fancy paint sealant. I had my last car done and with proper care I managed to keep the paint 100% swirl free after 3 years, although it was a summer only car.

Awesome! I will definitly post pics once the car is complete and i look forward to hearing your impressions on the car as i love it so far though like every car there are some cons..

Lol thats my vid!! I put a couple up on youtube, i also put one up of the logo puddle lights which are nice and i am planning on doing a longer one of interior and exterior as well as some driving and impressions

I thought it was funny that he is right by a fire hydrant. He could get a parking ticket before he ever sits in the car.

Ha...now that is funny. Do you know how friggin hard it is to be in the USA...and watch you peeps get these cars? I get more pissed as every day goes by. We should be driving them now as well !!!! 4+ months to go. Genesis America really fubar'd this one.

Do share your driving experience !!!!

If the Leafs happen to win this series (reboot to 5 years ago...game 7)...I will be up in Etobicoke to visit my Mom and catch a round #2 game. So I will get to see (perhaps drive) one in person :)

pretty cool deal there. certainly a unique approach to vehicle delivery. we've only bought one brand new car which was a '15 Toyota Highlander (we almost always go for a 1-2 year old car for best value), and the new car buying experience was a big let down - especially considering the 5+ month wait time after order was placed. Genesis certainly adds some value in this respect! if i proceed with my pre-order i'll wait for a weekend to make sure neighbours are around.

still with the snow up in Edmonton! yikes. looking forward to seeing more video and initial G70 thoughts and reviews. very little info or current reviews available so far...

Sweet! I live in Etobicoke and our location is not far away. We'd be happy to see you if you make it up - give me a shout if you do!

Looks great! I like the contrast stiching on the interior.

Some potential buyers will view the G70 as a "personal car," primarily for occupancy by the driver alone or the dirver plus one passenger. I pretty much fall into that category. Others will want a car that can accommodate a couple of other adults for rides of moderate duration. I think my wife probably falls into that category. For folks like my wife, this will substantially reduce the car's appeal. If I decide to get one, I'll probably trade my wife's Outback and have her use my current (and newer) 2015 Infiniti QX50 as her daily drive. It isn't as roomy as the outback but has a decent-sized rear seat. That would relegate the G70 primarily to me, with her using it occasionally when she isn't going somewhere with more than one other person. For many, that usage pattern will be too restrictive and they might simply look for another car. Even for us, if my wife feels strongly that we should have a car that can more easily accommodate four passengers, the G70 may not make the cut.

It's unfortunate. It will reduce the potential market. Families, for example, may be concerned that, as teenage kids grow, it's going to get progressively less comfortable for them in that back seat.

That's a major reason why the ATS, Jag XE and the new Giulia haven't sold better and why the Q50 (which offers more rear passenger space than the norm for the segment) has done well (even w/ Infiniti's brand cachet lagging behind others).

It seems like something that could have been avoided. Head room and knee room are usually the more challenging because increasing them means increasing the size of the car. But foot room, it seems, could have been thought out better.

Even an extra inch to the WB would have made a difference.

Here's Buckdes' other videos.

Of most interest, his video on the interior.

Agree w/ pretty much everything Buckdes says about the interior.

Really don't know why they cheapened out on the steering wheel cover when that's right in your face (Kia did the same thing w/ the Stinger).

Personally, don't care for the diamond/quilted stitching on the door panels (it's too much; less is more).

Btwn this and the new K900, Genesis better bring the interior of the next G80 up to snuff.

Looks like the exact same steering wheel as in the G80 Sport.

They should have gone with a flat bottom steering wheel.

Yeah, I had the same thought. This one seems to be slightly eccentric, so that more of the wheel is above than below the rotation point. That gives more room for your legs while you're heading straight ahead but when you turn the wheel. the bigger part goes from being on top to being on the bottom. This may be a problem primarily when parking, as normal driving shouldn't require 180-degree-plus steering wheel rotation. The flat-bottom wheel gives more room without going eccentric. So, the top part of the wheel is still bigger than the bottom but I think it would feel less strange than an eccentric wheel might. On the other hand, I don't know what it feels like to be turning a wheel and reach the transition point from round to not-round. That might take a bit of getting used to, also. Realistically, there's probably not that much functional difference between the two configurations in actual use but the flat-bottom wheel is also attractive and connotes sportiness. I bet it shows up in future models.
