@ ASHDUMP: The installation was pretty straightforward. I just followed the instructions they gave, although it was scary to get the wooden face plate off - I thought I must've broken or atleast scratched something for sure. The hardest part, the one that took about 45 mins, was figuring out where to stow the NAVTVs VIM module and the additional harness connector. It's pretty tight behind the dvd module and you have to be able to push the VIM module to the top left and the harness connector to the top right while trying to stow the dvd module back in its place. This scraped my knuckles quite a bit and was very very frustrating. But the rest of it is all straightforward.

Were you able to get the woodgrain cover back on without bending it and all the electrical worked OK afterwards. I am really very concerned that I can do the Job OK.

GripperDon,

Plug and play system meaning you unplug the existing harness going into the radio and connect that to the new harness and then connect the new harness into the radio.

My biggest fear was prying the off the front wood grain facia of the radio without scratching and once you have the guts of the radio you need to have towels underneath as the radio has to set on facia on center consol. Just be careful and don't rush it and you'll be fine.

The only problem I did encounter was the tight space behind the radio once I installed the additional harness. There is space to the left inside the open cavity and that is where you need to shove the extra wires.

An everyday person who is patience and careful, like myself, should be able to complete this installation. Just follow the instructions

Go to your local harbor freight or northern tools and buy this:

Harbor Freight has it listed online at $6.99. It's made of plastic so it's not as hard as say a flathead screwdriver. It still has the potential of scratching or marring the plastic/woodgrain, so just keep cautious as you move around on prying on it. As stated before, keep towels on it to prevent scratching. If you aren't mechanically inclined and don't feel comfortable, then paying someone may be your best bet. Shouldn't take more than an hour's labor.

It took me 1 1/2 hours. I went to the Ace Hardware and found a tool similar to what is shown above to pry open the front of the radio

Has anyone experienced any issues with the NavTV product? or faced any warranty coverage issues from Hyundai? I know that under US federal law, Hyundai dealers cannot refuse to honor the warranty unless the aftermarket product caused the problem, but wanted to check what folks have experienced.

NAVTV is 100% behind their product. One person on this forum did have a problem with his VIM (something wrong with the harness) and they promptly exchanged the VIM and to my knowledge the customer reported that it worked fine.

Can you still use the voice command feature with the VIM NAVTV product? The manual states that you must hold the voice command button for 3 seconds to activate/deactivate the VIM, so I assume you can still use it otherwise, right?

I think it's far more likely that you'd get cited for distracted driving using it than having any problems with Hyundai, especially since it doesn't involve modification of any of the factory systems.

I don't see how the steering controls would be interrupted. It should just bypass a few vehicle controls, tricking it to this the vehicle is still parked, thus allowing the video to play.

The NavTV seems cool, if pricey. A cheaper solution is to use portables in the back. You could also use them in Mexico or the US. I like this solution because with headphones in the back, a childrens program can be on, and I can still listen to what I want; everybody's happy.

I just read tonight that a girl updating her Facebook acct killed a pedestrian in Chicago.
