  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Please consider taking a break

What's really frustrating is that on a 2023 you can turn it off. Why do they think its helpful?

I do that when I am behind a slow truck and can't see what is ahead of it. And I think you are right; it is after that the warning appears. Oh well. I suppose it is like the collision warning...I get it too often when I am clearly timing my arrival at a point where a car in front of me is turning. In both cases I suppose I prefer getting the false positives to turning off the warnings and risking the alternative.
Agreed. As much as I often find both of those warnings rather pesky, I'm okay leaving them active. The triggers have been consistent, at least so far in my experience. It would be a different story if the warnings go off randomly, with no clear pattern.

My only real gripe is how blaring the audible warning is for collision warning. I get that it's trying to warn me of impending doom and more-or-less got used to it, but it occasionally catches Mrs. Volfy off-guard and freaks her out. Not cool.

There is a setting to turn down the audible alarm sound for collision warning.

Software update just came out. There is no added functionality on how to turn off this warning in the 2024 G70. To this day this is by far the most annoying feature on this car.
The sensitivity level is adjustable (at least on my '19). Go to Driver Assistance in the settings and look at Driver Attention Warning. Mine has High, Standard and Low.

I am sometines drowsy when driving back late night the 3 hours from LA to home. I swerved off the road an 2 occasions but saved by the things they put on the side of the lanes to make noise from the tires. The time for a break aring light did not go off. It goes off evry 6 months for reasons I cannot figure out

Should probably turn on LKA during those times, and fully enable it. That is exactly the kind of situation that supplemental technology is good for.

it is always on but the noise from the warning diskc on the road came on first

I don't know any way to turn it off. I don't know what all it senses, but sometimes, it is correct, time to take a break. You can avoid it going off by steady hand on the wheel, staying in the lane, etc.

First time I saw it was after some hours on the road and yes, I really needed a break.

Had a silver 2021 G70 that I lost in hurricane helene a few weeks ago. I would get that break notification randomly, and it was annoying. Found a replacement, a pristine 2021 G70 sport near Charlotte with only 8,800 miles. So I flew from Tampa to Charlotte to buy the car, and drove it back last week. 600 miles. Didn't get the "consider taking a break" notification hardly at all during the first 6 hours of my trip. However, the last 3 hours as I hit Jacksonville, to 301, to 75, and down to Tampa, I caught myself getting tired and not exactly keeping my car perfectly straight in the lanes. I turned off lane assist, but I think the sensors were picking up on me drifting to the lines on either side of me. That's when it seemed like it was telling me to take a break (and a much needed one. Had been up since 4am to catch an early flight, and didn't leave Charlotte until 3pm, getting home around 1:30am w a couple of stops for gas and food)
That's my theory now on how/why we get that notification. I think it picks up on lane drifting.

I think it does as well, had that happen on our latest 800 mile drive, it is annoying but could be times where it's a good feature.

Only once can I say it was truly annoying. Left the house in the morning, made a couple of turns to the main road, and it popped after travelling about 1 mile total. So, I turned around, went home and took a nap as required.

I have a 2024 G70. Took a long road trip this weekend. The "Please consider taking a break" coffee cup warning message came up frequently.

Am I to understand that this cannot be turned off? I called Genesis and they were no help. There does not seem to be an option to turn this feature off. The driver attention warning menu has the coffee cup shown but only the leading vehicle departure alert has a checkbox.View attachment 58817

I have a 2025 GV80 Prestige model. Do a decent amount of highway driving. This notification comes on about an hour into the drive. Then continuously comes on about every 12-18 minutes. Very annoying. Been driving for 45 years. Do not need my car to tell me when its time to take a break. The service department at my dealership has told me there is no way to disable this notification in the 2025s. Cannot reduce/eliminate the volume either. I have covered up the sensor on the steering wheel and the notification still comes on. It is more that just that sensor supposedly looking at your eyes. When driving in the city with crazy drivers all around, switching lanes, being somewhat aggressive, it never comes on. Only on the highway.

I have a 2025 G70 and occasionally I get that message. It would be nice to be able to turn it off.

Turn off all the lane keeping/departure systems - that is as close as you are going to get to disabling it. Even with it disabled - if you are bouncing back and forth between the lines in your lane too much or going over them - it is going to alert you. There is no sensor in the steering wheel other than for it to detect what input you are giving it with your hands - so not sure what you are "covering up" on it. At the end of the day - if you want the alerts to go away - you need to do better at staying in your lane. Don't go ping-ponging down the road between the lines or crossing the lines.

There simply should be a way to turn it off. It's a simple program fix.
You can turn off most other safety systems including traction control so why not.
Honestly it might deter me from getting another Genesis product.

Most of your mid to high end cars come with some variant of this, now. If you are going to stay in this class of car (or SUV) - you're either going to need to relinquish control to some autonomous driving features, or you're going to have to make sure to keep it between the lines. No matter what you drive, and if it has that feature or not - you'd be better off if you did the latter, as would the rest of the people on the road.

Where I live the road striping is so bad it confuses the system. It’s a feature I could do without.

I drove mine about 60 miles the other day I actually drove 7 miles to a coffee shop and as ther for an hour, then about 25 or so miles and stopped to pee, then 25 to my destination (I know this don’t add up, just approximate miles) And yet the “take a break” warning still came on twice. How the heck does that make sense?

You met the parameters of whatever the algorithm is. May have been some unusual movements on your part. I've only had that happen a few times and I'm not sure what all it senses. A few odd jiggles of the wheel or some odd head movement, etc.

I have a 22 G70 and it goes off periodically. I think it is likely because I avoid pot holes and sunken man hole covers making me appear to be tired. Doesn't really bother me.

It's just a matter of time before one of these car mfrs gets sued for distracting the driver and causing an accident, with all these nuisance alerts that cannot be turned off.
