  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I'll keep my fingers crossed. I've been researching what may be next for me and while bigger than the GV70, the new Mazda CX70, which are heading to dealer showrooms as I type (still none available in Tampa, yet), may well be by next ride. Check out some videos on YouTube on test drives, which started appearing this week.

If I get one, for me, it will be the CX70 Turbo S Premium Inline 6 with mild hybrid. Fully loaded, it's $58,000. Napa Leather and every goody one could want including a pretty amazing interior. And Consumer Reports ranks Mazda as the 4th most reliable brand sold in America. Right now, I just want a car which is R E L I A B L E!
We're on our 3rd Mazda because the wife loves to drive lil hatchbacks. She always gets the Premium AWD Mazda3 Hatchback. We've never had any issues and the interior is on par with any luxury make we've had. I love the styling of Mazdas as well. All the best to you!

I'm not a fan of Mazda, primarily due to the fact that they do not have independent rear suspensions. Maybe the CX70 Turbo Premium does. I lean on advice from "The Car Nut" on YouTube video. He's an honest mechanic, does not hesitate to point out weaknesses and strengths of makes and models. I traded my Acura RDX that was loaded for this GV70, mainly because of the touchpad and it was 3 years old. Was an Audi aficionado for years before that. Traded those every three years for another Audi, usually a Q5. LOVED my TDI. Don't know what I'll get if this Genesis conundrum isn't satisfactory. With the traffic here, I'd buy an Abrams if they'd allow it.
The CX70 has 4 wheel independent suspension, and the rear is multi-link with wishbone. Ever since Audi was caught a few years ago, killing monkeys by making them breath in diesel fumes while testing their diesel cars, which of course killed the monkeys, Audi is simply off my list of car options I'd consider. I owned Mercedes for years. Nice cars, but service prices are outrageous and now that Mercedes has moved to massive screens without ANY physical buttons I don't want a modern Mercedes. My one ever BMW was a disaster. I thought in buying a Genesis, it's from Hyundai and believed reliability would be high. I was wrong. So Mazda is appealing to me because of the reliability factor and the newest CX70 steps them up into luxury territory.

Thanks SirJangle! The CX70 is something unique. It's really a CX90 with two rows as opposed to 3. So it's pretty big. But the interior, which is VERY important to me as I spend my time in a car, not looking at a car is VERY important to me. And the CX70 is as nice, if not nicer, than any premium brand out there, which is what Mazda is going for on the CX70. At the moment, what's MOST important to me after two failed GV70s is having a car I won't have to be worried is going to leave me stranded on the side of the road waiting for a tow truck.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this replacement diff will be the final solution. As stated before, I owned a bunch of Audi's, as well as a few Mercedes, and in my younger years, three Porsches. All sold before the warranties expired. Never had a differential issue with any vehicle. I've been lucky with my cars except maybe this one. My vehicle is basically a grocery-getter. Drive a whopping 5 K a year on average, since I'm retired. However, I demand reliability and ride quality since I'm in full-comfort stage of my life. Figured this would likely be my last ride.

We typically keep cars for 5 years. Really hoped Genesis would hold up that long. Clearly for me, not the case. Our other GV70 has been reliable, but if I get something else, the other half simply doesn't want to keep the Genesis either.

So, I had the opportunity to drive the new Mazda CX70 this afternoon. That inline 6 Turbo with 340 HP is silky smooth and really moves that car. It's amazingly luxurious, with just about every safety and creature comfort anyone could possibly want. I didn't get to play with it long enough to test out the sound system, which is a Premium Bose system with 15 speakers and the subwoofer is huge to say the least. It sits inside where the spare full size tire sits and is the size of the interior dimensions of the tire. Base was awesome. If Genesis doesn't agree to replace my car, I'm pretty sure a Mazda CX70 Inline 6 Turbo S Premium Plus will be in my garage in place of the GV70 SP.

Please keep us informed of your results with Genesis and your dealer. Hopefully, those of us afflicted with the same issue won't have to walk the same path you are on.

I hope no one has to walk the path I'm walking. To have an engine fail catastrophically at 850 miles 5 weeks after purchase, to require replacing the engine isn't a path I'd wish on anyone, tbh. It was my first GV70, which had to have the LSD replaced TWICE in less than 7K miles. I'm 0 for 2 with Genesis, thus far.

Still not even a courtesy call from my dealer, which I find completely unbelievable.

But, I did get a call from my Mazda Dealer this morning that the Red Turbo S Premium Plus with the inline 6 mild hybrid, arrived this morning. They said they could hold it for me for 24 hours, but they had a list of people who want the car, so we went over after lunch, negotiated a decent deal (not much incentive to discount them much, since they were just released this month and they can sell everyone they get and more if they could) and I'll be picking her up tomorrow afternoon. I'm just relieved to know I'll be driving a very luxurious car, with a great engine, which I know has Mazda reliability. And it's simply a stunningly beautiful SUV, with Napa Leather seats, Suede on the dash and door inserts and every technical and safety feature one could possibly want.

We then drove the 45 miles to the Genesis dealer as I still had all my personal things in the GV70. When the car failed and had to be towed, I never imagined, it would need such a serious operation and still be there almost a month later. It was just sad to me to see the car, with no engine or transmission and the back cargo area torn apart to get to wiring harnesses. One week from today, I'll either file the Lemon Law or tell Genesis they have to buy it back as it will qualify for either at that point. Then we'll buy my partner a Mazda CX50 Premium Plus as he doesn't want a car as big as the CX70.

SMH... THIS is the nonsense Genesis needs to fix, the way they treat their customers after the sale. They should be bending over backwards for you at this point, not ignoring you.

Congrats on the new Mazda! They are great autos. All the best to you!

Thanks SirJangle. Yes, I think after buying 3 GV70's in 14 months, knowing we were enthusiastic loyal customers, they'd go out of their way to make me happy. But they've done NOTHING. And while it's costing money and some might say I'm cutting off my nose to spite my face, it's worth it to me at this point. I simply have NO confidence in the Genesis brand at all anymore.

Got the new CX70 Premium Plus yesterday! Amazing car! Now, learning the technology in the car, which is of course different than the GV70. Can honestly say nothing compares to the smoothness of an turbo charges inline 6! And the car is significantly bigger than the GV70, so have to get used to a bigger car, but the 360 surround view camera system is awesome and that helps guide me in tight spaces. The sound system in the Mazda is terrific. I've never been a huge fan of Bose, but they build a subwoofer into the back of the car, which is honking huge and you can feel base like I've never felt in the GV. All in all, I'm very happy and I know the Mazda, will be much more reliable than the GV.IMG_0671 Medium.webpIMG_0673 2 Medium.webp

Let us know what your remedy is from Genesis and your dealer on your GV70. I retrieve mine from the dealer with a new differential this Monday by noon. They worked on it all day last Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Expecting it to be operating silently and flawlessly. They loaned me a G80 while mine is being repaired. Nice ride, but too low for this old arthritic soul to egress easily.

Will do. I hope your car is perfect when you get it back. I know what you mean about sitting too low in a G. The loaner I've had is a G70 and it's just easy to get in and out of and I prefer sitting higher, for sure.

Just returned from the dealer after picking up my GV70 and I'm pleased to report that the remedy was successful. All quiet now and praying the new differential remains silent. Seems the original had gear mesh issues because they found metal debris in the lubricating fluid. Kudos to the service department for a relatively rapid turnaround and thorough inspection.

I hope the repair lasts a long time.

Nice looking vehicle the Mazda. My dad had a CX9 that he was very happy with for many years. I believe the CX70 is same size as the 90 without the 3rd row. Are you taking a risk by going ahead with the Mazda before resolution on the GV70? What if they don't refund your money? I hope it all works out. I don't think you can go wrong with the CX70! Let us know how you resolve with Genesis.

No, no risk at all. My partner had a 2023 GV70 and we traded that towards the Mazda. He's currently driving the loaner they gave me and I'm driving the new CX70. Either Genesis will replace the GV70, which he'll take or give us our money back, which we take the money and buy a CX50, which is more inline with what he'd rather have. So, no risk at all. Ultimately, I'd like to be completely divorced from Genesis and leave the nightmare in the memory bin.

I was finally able to request the buyback get started today. They already spoke with my service advisor who clearly explained the disaster, which is my GV70, so fingers crossed, it will go quick enough.

Does anyone know if it’s safe to drive if you have the “check limited slip differential “ warning? The car seems to be running fine even with the warning, but I don’t want to cause any damage.
