  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey everyone, i just wanted to ask you guys a quick question.

I currently drive a modded 07 subaru wrx thats pushing around 300hp to the crank.
I've always LOVED the genesis and lately i've been wanting something a little nicer than my wrx so i've been looking into the genesis. The only thing that is holding me back though... is the power...
The 2.0 is pretty slow... BUT... one of my friends recently got one and after throwing on an exhaust, intake, and tune, his dyno numbers came out to 237whp and 291wtrq and surprisingly after a 20 roll race... he barely beat me.

Basically my question to you guys is, yeah after those mods on a 2.0 thats pretty impressive, but what about the 3.8 genesis? Does anyone have the dyno numbers of a 3.8 or a general idea of how much they're pushing after those three mods? or close to those mods?
Thank you =)

Tell your friend to take his numbers from that ridiculous reading dyno with a grain of salt. He's not making nearly that much torque at stage 2.

Nobody seems to attempt modding for power from my observation. There is just no market for performance parts so nobody makes them. And keep in mind that cars with forced induction come with more room for potential off the bat. All you need to do is add fuel and increase boost. With N/A cars manufacturers tend to 'max' out available power by milking out as much as they can. The 4.6L V8s seem to put out about the same power as a stage 2 STI, but these cars also weight 1,000 lbs more.

Maybe I am not understanding you. Where are you getting a Genesis Coupe being slow and only having 237hp after mods? The 2013 I just purchased (4 days ago) has 274hp w/premium gas. I am 44 and have been on some really fast bikes and in really fast cars in my day. Raced street bikes for WERA in the early 90's. I feel the 2.0 is pretty darn quick. Sure, you can be quicker in some cars. Just don't get your post. Please explain further.

2010-2012 2.0T only had 210 hp. It got my 2011 auto to a best of 15.3. And you're quoting 274 hp at the motor, not the wheels. His buddy has 237 rwhp(hp at the wheels) or about 272 hp at the motor with the average 15% drivetrain loss

My apologies. I didn't see we were in the coupe forum. However the point that N/A motors tend to be close to maxed from the factory still stands. Turbo motors always have more room left on the table. You'll always have an easier time extracting power from a factory turbocharged car.
