I was an early adopter (took delivery of my '09 4.6 Tech in Dec 2008) and have probably sold more Gennys by word-of-mouth than some professional salesmen. Unfortunately, that stops today. Less than 64k miles on my pampered car and I'm told today that $2,026 will be required from my wallet to make the vehicle usable. I'm terribly disappointed; allow me to vent a bit. Hyundai's 100k powertrain warranty is great; we're worry-free regarding the engine and transmission. Too bad those aren't the only two things that make the car usable. For instance, I could still use my car if the heated seats went out at 63,400 miles, or if the sound system went dark, but without power steering my beloved Genny simply becomes a 4,006 pound paperweight. Why don't the manufacturers get it? I don't expect them to give us 100k bumper-to-bumper, but why not 100k for anything that would keep the car usable? Sure, steering is not part of the drivetrain, per se, but this 2-ton hunk of metal is not really a "car" if it can't be steered. I digress. What in the world could cause a power steering pump failure? No leakage, no warning, no nothing! Anyone here on the Forum have a clue? And perhaps more importantly, any suggestions on what my next car should be?
Sorry. Not sure how, but I somehow placed this in the TSB forum. I don't know how to move it. Help.
