I was at my local dealership about a month ago and asked about HPP extended warranty. Manager gave me price of $1600 for my 2011 4.6 with 28,000 miles.
I will be calling other contacts provided in this thread next week because my 3/36,000 part of the warranty expires at the end of October.

What a car dealer quotes is irrelevant. Some will start the negotiating at $3,000 just to see if someone will bite. You can usually purchase these at any dealer, even out of state, so look for best price, and go back to your local dealer with the other price quote. If dealer does not get close, buy it elsewhere.

The price of a warranty on a used car is almost always higher than on a new car. The warranty company can't take advantage of "investing" the money when it's purchased a year, two or three after the car purchase date.

I paid $1199.00 HMPP 10YR/100k/$0 PLATINUM PLAN. My 2012 Genesis had 1.795 miles on it. By the way, do you get a letter from Hyundai HMPP confirming the warranty after you sign up.

Your VIN should be recorded as having the warranty at any Hyundai dealer service dept.

mine ran me about 19k when we got it a few months ago. by "we," i mean me and my grandparents. we originally got it because it was a much more comfortable car for them and a much more exciting ride for me compared to our Sonata. i did contribute to the purchase of our car. i put $500 down on it and i am making the payments, although its not technically in my name. anyway, i was 24 when we got our 2010 Genesis. to be honest i was torn between this and a 2010 Lincoln Towncar.

I think im starting to figure these price variances out (that is from the aggressive dealers, not the greedy ones)....it appears that the price of the HPP is most dependent on the status of the cars 10/100 powertrain warranty at the time the hpp is purchased. Here is what I've found:

CPO - dealer cost about 800, good retail price 1000 - 1100
Original owner - dealer cost about 1000, good retail price 1200-1300
2nd owner - dealer cost about 1300, good retail price 1400-1500

I guess the logic is that the cpo cars have both the powertrain warranty and have recently been inspected, while the original owner cars still have the powertrain warranty. And, cars like mine, that are second owner cars do not have any coverage beyond 5/60 so you are buying more coverage. Note I've also been told that in the 2nd owner scenario, the price really goes up after the car hits 10k miles - mines at 8k so time to buy....

Im not thrilled about this, but it seems reasonable....and i got a smokin deal on her when i picked her up 15 mos ago so I'm ok with it i guess.

Hey this thread is great for those of us looking into buying the HPP but could you guys please be sure to include your car details. Especially mileage and whether or not it's a CPO. This seems to have a pretty big impact on the quotes.

I paid $1425 for a 10/100 warranty with $0 deductible. I have a 2015 5.0.

Dealer cost is supposedly $1379. I had multiple quotes and my selling dealer came very close to my lowest quote, so I bought the warranty from them.

That's a probably a good price, since I assume the cost has gone up with the 2015 models.
