  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Good afternoon,

I test drove a Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8 last night and fell in love with this car. However this is my first NEW car and probably the only time in my life that I'll be able to buy exactly what I want, i.e. no bills to pay etc., so I do not under any circumstances want to settle on what I want. I was told last night that they would find me this configuration and if not that ordering it wouldn't be a problem. This morning the dealer called me saying they found one, but its pretty much completely different and that Hyundai does not allow orders.

What I want is:

3.8GT w/Nav
6 Speed Manual
Nordschleife Gray Exterior
Brown Leather Interior

and then the standard Grand Touring features I believe cover anything else I would want.

When he called me this morning he told me about 3 that he found, one the gray with black interior, no nav (he said I could easily buy a garman and plug into cigarette lighter, however I really want it for radio integration which I told him) no backup sensors. Then he told me about a white one with brown interior with nav, but it is an automatic (he then said that its really the same as manual because it has the shift pedals on the wheel.... ) and then he told me about a red one. He also said that it is impossible to get the gray with the brown interior.

I was curious if what he is saying is accurate at all, I'm not trying to sound emo but I feel kind of like they just saw this young kid fresh out of college and think that I'll just buy something.

If it can be "built" on the hyundai website, it's not impossible to get. So it's not impossible to get the one you want, you just have to wait for it. dealers can only request configurations at the moment or search other dealerships and try to trade for it.

There are some people that have been waiting, for 9+ months, to get the configuration they specifically want.

Start looking at different dealerships that you wouldn't mind driving out to (some people have purchased a few states over to get the one they want). They just might have the one you want.

Good luck. Get the one you want. If you do "just settle with something" make sure you'll be happy with it. (ie., I wanted a 2.0 premium, just settled with a base because I don't need the extra stuff that comes with the premium. would have been nice but didn't need it)

Go with your original plan... for a first car you want to enjoy the things you want in it. keep trying... in the end it'll be all worth it!

Yes, stick with your original plan. If I were you I would just wait as long as it takes until I get the variation I want it will be worth it at the end.

Also, can't they just special order built your car?

Hi,
I am the Internet Sales manager at Kearny Mesa Hyundai here in San Diego. I know this is an old thread but if you're still looking for that Genesis Coupe we have one that fits the description you listed. Where are you located?

PM or email me if you're still in the market.
