If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Well, I went to my local Hyundai dealer last weekend, and I test drove both of the genesis trims. I couldn't help but notice that the ipod to usb cable with the aux jack had 3 dividers to it, as opposed to the regular 2 dividers. This means that the aux jack should support video. Attached is a picture of a wire that has the exact same 3.5mm mini jack as the aux jack, but that can allow a play station, or xbox for that matter, to be connected to the genesis. Also attached is a video from cnet reviewing the genesis and in minute 2:42, you can see what wire i am talking about. Although I doubt it, has anyone tried connecting a device this way? If so, has it worked? My dealer's price for the 4.6 with tech is $47,250, a full $5,000 over MSRP!!! I told him flat out, the MSRP is $42,100, and that unless he put some kind of bulletproof armoring, no one would buy it at such a steep price. I am going to buy form another dealership that is offering for $39,500. How much is the tax, doc, and licensing fees. How much would the price out the door be?

im going to be buying my 4.6 this week. When i initaly went in they tried to convince me the lowest they could go was 44500. I walked out. But now im working out a new deal with them hopefully for around 40

that is something to try, although you could only play it when parked, fees will depend on your area, mine totaled about $3700

Have a Platinum 4.6 w/ Tech and negotiated a sales price of $39,500

plus the tax and tags...
total approx $42,000

That was back, second week in January 2009
Have about 800 miles on it

Great Car....so far

I bought my Platinum/Black 4.6/Tech on Jan. 16th. Factory sticker was $42,150 and I paid $500 over invoice ($39,832). To give you an idea of California taxes, doc fees and licensing costs, my out-the-door price was $43,731, much higher than your OTD $42K give or take.

The four dealers in my general area had two or three dozen V-6s in stock, but only a handful of V-8s. And the one I bought was the only Platinum/Black 4.6 with the Tech package among the 4 dealers, which was exactly what I was looking for. Buying the car right then and there was more important to me than shopping around out of the area and possibly saving a few bucks.

Mine has about 900 miles on the clock at the moment and I couldn't be happier with the purchase. Tons of power and it gets better mileage than my '06 MDX that has now been relegated to the driveway.

Bilmat, great to know that info since i live in California. I hope i will get as good a deal as you. I'm hoping to get the price of a dark blue/ cashmere 4.6 with tech out the door at MSRP. I have seen the configuration i want in a lot of dealers, so right now I'm just looking for the best dealer. Thanks for the info.

Good morning everybody!

From here on, lets try to keep this thread on subject by talking about the RCA jack and the possibilities of playing your games through the media center.

There is a separate thread for pricing and purchasing the Gen.

Thanks and have a super duper day! :)

OH YEAH: I moved this thread to the electrical, lighting, dvd, navigation etc... thread!

i purchased a 3.5 mm to rca a/v cable today. the audio works fine, although the channels appear to be incorrect. The video aspect is not functioning properly. the system apparently recognizes it as audio only. if i connect the yellow cable, there is massive feedback, but connect either the red or white cable to the yellow input, sound comes through. i have purchased two cables one from radio shack and the other best buy, so i know it isnt the cable. the dis manual says the cable should work for video, but it doesnt. am i using the wrong cable? i couldnt find different types via the radio shack guy or my own research via the net. so is this a defect in the owner? or is there something not right about what the owners manual says and what the dis says?

What are you trying to connect to the cable? It is supposed to work with movie cameras.

If the connector in the Genesis is made for an ipod that may be a problem. Apple, in their infinite wisdom, made the three-prong connector for the ipod non-standard.

You basically have to plug the yellow cable into the white jack, the white cable into the red jack and the red cable into the yellow jack.

I know. Idiots.

that was the first thing i tried. I even tracked down the a/v cable to my camera which i havent used in years which is mono and that still didnt work. i am trying different sources of video and audio. with different combinations of cables. all three are audio in which appear to be left/center/right channels. any other ideas? maybe a specific cable i need? whom do i contact to resolve this? my dealer? hyundai directly??

Have you verified that your AUX video settings are on the proper NTSC/PAL setting?

my pda supports both, so tried different combos there too. no luck, but video is video... so it shouldnt matter there just the format would be screwy, wouldnt explain why all inputs play the audio... meaning plug yellow into any of them and feed back, plug either red or white into any of them and you hear sound just either through left speaker/right speaker or even center speaker

I too would like to connect a spare Xbox 360 to this thing when I need to kill some parking lot time. Sometimes when I switch to AUX the screen says "no video source" which is weird since Im just trying to play music from a USB stick. I also want to override the rear view camera/parking lot and somehow get the ability to check out the rear view camera when Im in drive or park.

Well, it should display no video source when trying to play music, the problem I have is that it will not display video at all... I just haven't had the chance to get to the dealership to ask the "pros" what is up. As far as the camera while NOT in reverse, good luck, no known overide as it is software controlled, not like the olden days where you can just ground a wire here and be ok... same reason we can't watch a video while driving which is stupid, but I do frequently have passengers and when are you ever really parked long enough to watch a movie? Kinda defeats the purpose IMO.
