  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Pulled the trigger...thanks to this vibrant forum...
:grouphug:

Thanks to this forum and the excellent, vibrant community....I am poorer by $50K :-)

Decided to buy (vs lease) a new 2015 5.0 v8 Base...picked it up yesterday....Empire State Grey, with Black interior. Really wanted the Ultimate (for the HUD), but was not getting the price/value for that one option; maybe could have waited longer to get a better price....HOWEVER, based on the 400 miles i drove yesterday (bought this from quite a bit away from San Jose...don't ask...there were good reasons; still have 400 more miles to go today...all fun miles in the Genesis!), absolutely no regrets of missing out the Ultimate HUD (the other indicators are sufficient, and a leap from my Nissan leaf (yes, yes, i know...slightly different cards :-).

Now, did buy the HPP Extended Warranty (Platinum) for 10 yrs, 100K, Zero deductible...but not sure if i should keep it, or cancel it for no cost within the first 30 days...seems that there are key key exclusions that make it less valuable (see below cut/paste...suggestions on keeping this extended warranty of not?
My rationale was that if i keep the car 5ish years, it is worth it (the price for 5 ys vs 10 yr was small), and if i were to sell it then the warranty has value and makes the car more desirable for resale.

Has anyone used the HPP warranty on any cars...not necessarily Genesis? Experiences?

Many thanks

PS: Pics soon

First of all, congratulations on your purchase! :welcome: to the club! As for the extended warranty, I am of the belief that with any car where the head-unit costs $3800, if you plan on keeping the car for more than three years, it's worth getting the Platinum Extended Warranty.

congrats on the buy, I too skipped the UTL package due to value for options..I was going to get HPP but opted for the geico warranty

Congratulations on your new Genesis! I'll be picking mine up this evening. :)

Congrats on your Purchase, Did you says you got a V8 Base??, in Canada we can only get the V8 in Ultimate AWD

Congrats on your purchase!

If I was keeping the car for 5 years, I would not bother with the extended warranty. I plan on keeping mine for 8-10 years and bought it.

Congrats on your purchase!
I signed on Friday and should be picking up the car in the next couple of days; details in signature. I'm still undecided on the extended warranty. I tend to flip cars a lot and didn't make use of the last two warranties I purchased (nor do I believe it really added anything in the trade negotiations)... so I think I will decline it. Coverage is a bit different in Canada vs. the US.

In the US, the extended warranties typically are not valid when trading into a dealership (HPP included). They are transferable only to private owners. Perhaps that is why they didn't add anything in your trade negotiations. :)

In Canada, they use the transferability of the warranty in the sales pitch, and they ask you if your vehicle has one when you fill out the used car appraisal form (declaring no accidents, etc). Some car-makers have claimed that the warranty remains forever linked to the VIN, but I'm never around to find out if the next owner receives it. :)
I've always managed to get top dollar for my trades due to low mileage and pristine condition... the warranty has never factored into things. None of my cars have ever gone to auction, dealers always keep them to sell.

Wednesday at 6pm is my appt for the Genesis delivery. Woohoo!

I what is the gieco one? Cost, benefits?

it's for 7 years or 100k with a 250 ded, the only exclusions are wear and tear items
new cars with under 15k miles are able to sign up (assuming you have the auto ins)
I pay 87 a yr
