Purchase Details so we all can prosper!

why would you purchase this car over six years- the max MSRP is a bit over $42K for a fully loaded V8 Tech... man even five years is a bit much for this low of a priced car

What I was trying to convey was that given the payment of $520 a month and a down payment of $2100, a V-6 Tech + Tax + Title + License Fees runs around $40,444 where I live in CA. Subtract the $2100 from that number and divide by the $520 payment and you'd get almost 74 payments or just over 6 years at 0% financing. In effect, if 0% was even offered for 6 years, this would still be a better deal. Since you'd NEVER want to finance this car for that long (or even hold this car for that long), the lease deal makes way more sense as you are now using your money for bigger and better things. There's really no risk to it.

I have never leased a car myself but if I was- which still won't happen- the Hyundai Genesis would be an excellent candidate- especially if it ends up being a bad car that starts breaking as the months go on- then you can dump it when the lease ends.

I usually outright purchase all my cars, but in this case, the lease made much more sense by having the dealership take on the depreciation / reliability risk. My residual payment is already pre-factored at 58% at the 27 month mark. That's $23,258 according to my paperwork. The money factor is damn near 0 at less than $16 a month. Basically, they are getting these cars out to the public for free. If they devalue too much by the 27th month, walk away. If they hold their value, buy it and sell it for a profit if you want. Either way, no headache at the end and you get a new car AND you hold on to your money (by using theirs) while you drive off. The mileage and normal wear and tear is al you have to worry about. I drive quite a bit so I'm entitled to 15,000 a year so my mileage limit on 27 months will be around 33,750. If I drive 40,000, my overage is .20 per mile or around $1300. I could pay this and walk away or more likely, the dealer will 'forgive" the amount if I re-lease another car. Either way, you prepare for it. I could also build some more miles into the price, but many times, those miles come at the same cost so your better off just figuring out what will happen at the end.

Good things come to those who wait! I finally got my black/cashmere/tech/4.6! Picked it up yesterday. Not the best deal but fair. Paid window sticker of $42,100 and they gave me an excellent price on my wife's 1993 Camry (more like retail). So all in all I'm happy! Now I have to try and drive this thing like an adult (HA). This things feels faster than my Subaru WRX STI!!!!

Well, I posted in another area about the Genesis vs Lexus IS 350... My wife and I are leaning more towards the Genesis V8 Black/Black (Saddle Bag) with Tech Package.

Now, a few dealerships in the Minneapolis, MN area have them... This one is offering the vehicle for $39,682.00 ($500 over invoice?), 27 month lease, $3,000.00 down, $593.76 a month, 15,000 Miles a year. They thought they would've sold that vehicle about a month ago, but it is STILL sitting on the showroom floor.

To sweeten up the deal, I will see if they will tint it, replace the trunk logo, and steering wheel logo... I plan on signing papers today...

Is this a good deal? What should I be aware of? Thanks in advance!

Sounds pretty good, but then you know your market better than I do. Mine was $39,100/$2500 dwn/$606 month/27 months/residual either 56% or 58% (don't care, I'll be in a 2011 then!).

You COULD get the same deal here: fly down, drive the Gen back to Minny!!!

Sounds decent. My salesguy just told me the same car you describe is sitting at Gettle in Sarasota with a 5K premium on it.

Well, I just put money down on the vehicle... I'll pick it up on December 29th!

Purchase details:

2009 Hyundai Genesis (Black/Black/Saddle)
4.6 V8 with Technology Package
Minneapolis, Minnesota

Lease Details:
27 Months
15,000 Annual Miles
$3,000.00 Down
$593.76 Month
Free Oil Changes (For as long as I own the vehicle)
Free Car Washes (For as long as I own the vehicle)

Dealership said they would tint the windows and replace the trunk emblem before pickup.

Now, before picking it up I just need them to perform a couple TSB's and I should be set... I don't want to enter all my NAV information, just for them to update so I lose everything!

BaywayRic;

Your right about it sitting at Gettel, along with three others! It seems their greed is backing up on them. Thats why I picked mine up in Bradenton just up the road. Gettel could not understand why I would drive 20 miles to save over 5K. Dah!

Hi,

Soon-to-be owner (I hope!)

I have been emailing for quotes, the best I have so far for the V6 Tech ($500 over invoice) is:

Cost 37613.00 (this includes dest. of 750 + ad fee of 250)
Plus + 500.00
Doc Fee + 489.00
4.5 % Tax + 1737.09
Title + 16.50
Total 40355.59 OTD

The same dealer is offering $500 over invoice on the V6 Premium as well.

The doc fee is steep ... overall, a good deal still? Any input would be much appreciated!

In my opinion this price is about average. It all depends on where you are trying to buy it and what color combo you desire. I have just completed the negotiations on my 3.8 with tech and I am going to pay $38,800 out the door price NOT including sales tax. That being said, I am buying in the Athens,Ga -Atlanta, Ga. area and have found prices here higher than what some others are paying in other parts of the country. Also, I am getting a rare color combo (white with black interior) and that drove the price up some. I don't know where you live but in my resesarch I found some of the lowest prices to be in the New Jersey, Maryland and Pennslyvania areas. If I could have found the color combo there that I was absolutely set on, I would have flown up there and driven one back down as the pricing was significantly better ( several hundred dollars). If I were you, unless you are desiring a rare color combo, I would try to get them to eliminate the doc fee.
Hope this helps a little, and good luck!

I'm in NJ and I've seen plenty of dealers that have the 3.8L V6 Tech with Satin White w/ Black interior. This is not the color combo I'm interested in; however the best offer I got thus far for a V6 Tech in NJ is $36,500 + TTL.

I still haven't pulled the trigger; I'm hoping in the new year to purchase the Genesis after I get my bonus.

I just saw this on a Hyundai's Dealer's website. It's not this 1st time I seen them make this offer:

2009 Hyundai Genesis
$1,500 BELOW INVOICE ON ALL 6CYL MODELS ONLY!!! (CALL FOR 8CYL PRICING)
"DESTINATION INCLUDED"
GOOD FROM 12/02/08 - 12/13/08

When I bought ours we got a quote from one dealer, and then I told him I was going over to another dealer later that day to see what deal they would make. As soon as I said that the dealer improved the deal by about $1,000 (we had a trade in to play with on the deal). I then took that quote over to the second dealer and they beat it by $250.
So if you have two dealers that can compete with each other for your business, definitely give it a try. Car dealers are generally DESPERATE to sell cars these days and should be very aggressive.

Im at $36,800 for V6 with Tech package plus TTL. I think the price is great but still not sure if I am ready to lease this car yet although I was very impressed with it.

Am in Durham NC and just test drove a Genesis this morning. Very impressed. While it is a little soft compared to my GS400, it handles better than the E400 I had before that.

The deal on the table is:

V8 with technology package and all other premium amenities. $41,500 OTD.

Sticker is $42,7xx.

Haven't bought a new car in about 15 years (always buy CPO from dealers) so a little out of my element. Any thoughts on the price? Advice?

Thanks in advance.

Brian

Brian, you know your market better than anyone and if the price is good for you that's all that counts. That said, the price is high IMHO. The sticker should be no more than 42,100. I'm not aware of any "premium" options that would add $600 to that. Otoh, if the 41,500 includes TT&D then you've got a very good deal.
Fwiw, my price $39,100 for the same car... Plus TTD. If you want buy in Chicago and drive it home (road trip!) I'll hook you up. ;-)
Enjoy!

Thanks. It's $41,500 out the door, including TT&D. Sticker may have been $42,100...couldn't quite remember. Going to test drive the V6 as well...though from what I can tell the diff is only $2000 or so for the V8. Seems more than worth the little extra.
