  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Purchase Details so we all can prosper!

well honestly I would be complaining- in this market- and a MSRP of $42,000.00
and you can only get it for $41,365.00 and I hope when you say you had an
internet coupon that the $41,365.00 was "before" not including the coupon.

Say all you want about "This market", but the current reality is that the 8's, which are still in short supply, will sell quickly until the market is satisified . . . THEN the market will adjust, and prices will come down. So if you want to wait, the deals should be there, but if you want an "8" anytime in the near future, somewhere close to MSRP will probably be the cost.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
okay... yeah LA Area here probably the first to get the V8's and extremely competitive for any make or model here.

since even though I have not bought one yet- i have confirmed deals on V8 Tech for
Under Dealer Invoice and using basically all of the 2% Dealer Holdback.

yep since if you read some of the deals- and giving into your argument- that is not a good deal.

If my calculations are correct, Oljock99 will end up paying almost $1,600.00 less for his Genesis, than ones purchased, under invoice, in states that don't have the special financing deals.

For example, if you paid 41,365 at .9% for 48 months your total would be: $42,129. If you paid $38,411 for the same vehicle ($500 into holdback) at 6.5% for 48 months you'd end up spending $43,723.

The dealers that can offer the special financing are probably taking advantage of the situation and don't need to discount as deeply. They've done the same math and know their customers will end up paying less from MSRP than those who bought at dealer-cost elsewhere!

My plan, involves previously unexercised patience: buy near dealer-cost w/ promotional financing also, to minimize the total cost. The patience part is unexplored territory for me, but that is the plan for now!

If I were to buy one today- this is what loan I would get:
up to 36 mos.- 3.75%

And I would need no more than two years to pay it off

so I would never pay 6.5%

If you can get .9% "loan" for 48 months, you're better off getting as much on that note as possible and drawing it out for the entire 48mos. You will be well ahead taking your large cash down-payment and investing it. A rate of 3.75% is about the wholesale rate of personal finance/low-risk money, so depending on your investing skill/luck, its about 50/50 whether you'd be better off paying cash or not. It goes without saying, that discipline is needed with either approach.

A lot of people don't have access to the 3.75% rate, let alone .9%, but bottomline the buyers need to figure out the "complete" cost of the purchase. The complete cost is not only what the check(s) that go to the dealer, license bureau, and the state tax offices, but that of the finance costs. This is the exact reason dealerships sell the car with one salesman, and have a "finance" guy to try to make some more money off of us.

You should be able to get one at $40k easily, and if you really want to push the issue, $39,000 - 39,500.

Samifumi is right. Look in autotrader.com for availability, and contact the internet manager. Make sure you ask for the "delivered" price and that distinction should be noted in your quote. The last thing you need is the suprise add-ons/variables, for instance documentation fees. You might not find the best price at the closest dealer, but shopping around should get you a deal. Make sure you shop for finance rates also! Hyundai has special financing rates in certain states, so consider looking in those states.

Blk on Blk 4.6 V8 with Tech Package (Very Happy with the car and deal)
Asking Price:
42,000.00
Selling Price:
40,145.00
Salesman told me they only had 145.00 left in the car (Whatever it worked for me) He gave me a $150.00 gas card, so I could say I paid less than $40,00.00 if it was important to me. Did the deal on 9/30 which was the end of the month and quarter so they wanted to move that car. I had contacted over 20 dealers in California for a Blk/Blk V8 w/navigation, and there still contacting me (no one has stated they have the car) trying to sell me V6's, but never mention a Blk V8 w/nav in stock.
The car gets lots of looks and looks super with tinted windows and wing emblem.

Beige with tan interior, v-6 tech
38,200 before ttl
Cash buy with 13000 dollar trade in.

Mdub; according to Edmunds.com, the invoice for a Genesis w/tech (42k MSRP) is $38,911. That includes the $750 destination. They make an additional 2% in holdback at the end of the month on the vehicles they sell. So the actual dealer cost is around $38,132 (although I forget if holdback is figured from MSRP or invoice).

If the dealer says they are only making $150, have them show you the invoice! I'm fine with dealers "asking" $40k for the Genesis, but they don't have to lie about the cost. I'm guessing they said that to impress you that they weren't going any lower and other dealers couldn't either. I can understand them stating that with current market conditions (limited supply/high demand) they would go no lower, but lying does nothing but get me mad.

I've had much better luck dealing with the internet sales departments. They usually give no-nonsense pricing. The internet sales people don't have captive audiences and seem to treat buyers with more respect.

V6 premium package with trunk mat.
msrp was $35,100
price I paid was $30,934.

FYI.. The Costco price on the 4.6 w/Tech ($42k MSRP) is $39,411 including destination and not including any promotions that might lower the price. If you're a Costco member you can walk in to any affiliated Hyundai dealer and they have to honor that price (if they have a V-8). Note, that this is the "no haggle" price, however that doesn't mean you shouldn't haggle. I was able to get the dealer I bought from down another nearly $750.00 off the Costco price.
