  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Push button steering wheel start problem

my genesıs have one problem car ıs not satart dıspaly says sterrıng wheel lock no swıtch on how to manege thıs problem plzz help ,,, thıs problem

If the steering wheel is torqued so that it's locked up against the stop, you need to muscle it off.... with LOTS of muscle. I'm talking old-school 1970's with a 454 manual steering in a parking lot muscle.... and then some.

Having a 2nd person to push the button for you (or a stronger person do it for you) will help.

My 2009 Genesis is having the same problem. Hyundai of Seattle charged me $300 to diagnose and now wants to replace the whole steering column assembly (part 563003M400) -- $1500 part + $500 labor = $2000+ for this repair.

Try junk yard and local shop.

Thanks. They found the part used for 10% of the price but after installing it the problem persisted. Then they installed the part new and it still didn't help.

Finally, they replaced the ignition lock assembly which did the trick. 10 days and $1700 later I have my Genesis back.

Ouch! Glad you are back on the road though.

so the ignition lock assembly was definitely the issue? my Genesis is in the ship now and they're performing the diagnostics. did you go with the OEM replacement part?

Oh yes. Told husband we need do it together. We couldnt get it to move. He left and I started messing with it. Put one foot on brake. other foot on push button and two hands on steering wheel. Dash lights stared showing and going off then kept it up until I saw the battery icon. Hooked up my car charger and bingo it started. Picture an 84 yr old short 126 lb woman doing all this. I get a big kick making things work when men can't do it. Not sure how I did it but I think I know and cant explain it.

Going through the same problem and I’m actually at the dealership! And they’re telling me that it’s an electrical Steering Column issue and it needs to be replace! But my car actually starts every now and then by just pressing the push the start button! This is annoying and doesn’t make sense at all to me!
me tooo i have the same problem and same suggestion by dealer
