If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Has anyone noticed a lack in quality of the leather seats? Particularly the most often used seat - your drivers seat... hehe go figure. :)

Mine seems to be losing color, and has small strings coming from the perforated holes in it towards the front of the bottom half... if this makes sense....?

The passenger seat also looks rather worn, however, not as bad, it's not used as often. And the rear seats look brand new.

Thoughts?

(I can probably post a picture of the 2 seats, if someone wishes)

What color?
My black leather seats have no issues. If you wear jeans a lot I've heard it can lead to color transfer on tan leather seats. Someone else had the fibers poking through the perforations and had their seat bottom replaced.

Which model are you referring to? The V-6 or the upgraded leather in the V-8?
Thanks

Yes, please post pics. Also, do wear denim often?

I find the leather to be of excellent quality. Take care of it and it will take care of you. Conditioning is essential. :)

While I have the 'ultra' leather in the v-8 i first noticed the "perforated threads' after wearing jeans. ( i posted about this in March)

I found if I wear slacks there is no issue, the threads are being "grabbed" by the courser material and pulled up when you slide out. If I run my hand over the seat the threads return to the holes.

I haven't had any issues with wear or color of the seat material .

Sorry for the delay.. I just woke up..

I never wear jeans. I'm a 24/7/365 cargo shorts kinda guy. And they're usually tan, or medium brown color. (I'm almost anal retentive about that). No blue, no red.. contrary to what Andrew Zimmern thinks, blue and red "shorts" went out in the 80s. :)

I will post some pictures within the next hour... a little wet at the moment.

I also condition the leather seats once every 60 days ~ish. Well, not the rear seats, cause they're never used, that's a waste, imo.

I still have my Lexol from when I owned by Volvo... What a pain to apply because you have to have a rag/towel for application of the cleaner, then one wipe off the cleaner, then one to wipe on the conditioner, and then one to clean off the conditioner. I go through microfiber towels like crazy in my garage.

I really miss my S60s seats... so comfortable.

Here are some photos... the latter 2 in the gallery, are the front passenger seat.

edit: and I forgot the link :P http://yfrog.com/6rimg4504rjx

Okay, that doesn't look too bad to me (at least in pics). The little fibers peaking out through the perforations would bug me though. I would get it replaced under warranty. I've had mine V6 w/ black leather for 14 months and there are no fibers sticking out of the perforations on my seats.

My black seats have no "stringing", but I don't wear denim (someone else mentioned in another thread that maybe denim makes this worse).

I notice that one of the tiny holes on the passenger seat is white, as if it is plugged with something. Have you used any kind of cleaner on these seats? I have not cleaned mine except with a light vacuuming.

Not 100% sure, but I assume the threads come from the underlying seat cushion material (or they come from the material in your pants), and not the leather itself.

I can't say that your leather has discolored based on the photos I saw, but maybe they appear lighter with the strings coming through the holes.

I have a V8 Tech, and I'm pretty sure it has the same leather is in the V6. Us Canadian's got jipped out of the ultra-premium leather as an option for that model, plus the car costs more than in the US.....

In spite of that, I like the leather. Its a tad soft, which leads to more wear which i'm guessing is the issue. I agree with JTwaters, get Hyundai to fix it under warranty.

******For those that have the US model V8 Tech, wondering if you can post some close up pics of the leather, I'm curious to see what it looks like, and if its that much different, or maybe you can comment?

I was sitting in my Genesis today, and noticed some fibers coming out of the perferations in the seats. It isn't that bad yet...but if it gets worse, it is going to the dealer.. My car's build date was September 08...so it was one of the earlier ones. It now has 11K on the odometer.

Take care,
Bob

Mine is the same too with the small fibers sticking out, but it's not that bad and I have 13.900 miles or so. Just like you, if it gets worse, I will bring it to the dealer.

The leather on mine seemed very loose after a couple of days. I took it back to the dealer and they sent it out to an upholstry shop to get it fixed. They added more padding now it's perfect.
