  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

So I own a black genny....( pain in the arse to keep it clean ) I wash it at least once a week on the weekends....now so far I have used clean microfibers, all new....

and I kept buying new ones and still have the old ones sitting on my trunk...

Question is, is it safe to wash them and re use them? I am scared that i might not wash it properly and end up scratching it badly...so in that fear i keep buying new ones but you know...my cash goes out of my pocket everytime...

I just wanted to know if there is a safe way to clean them? is it safe enough to handwash them and let it dry?

Thanks in advance!

Its ok to wash them and re-use. I rinse mine out before washing then wash them in washer with oxiclean.

OK to wash them, but use double rinse and no fabric softener.

Yes, you can wash and re-use them. Just do NOT use fabric softener sheets or any fabric softener. It will make the microfiber towels less absorbent and you will get fuzzies on your car when drying with them.

Thank you all!! also i heard not to let it dry on the drying machine...is that true? if so...i guess i will have to dry them out on the sun? :p

I user a dryer for mine without any problem. Maybe they shrink a little bit more, but not sure that is a problem. But no fabric softener sheets in the dryer.

Oddly mine came with instructions not to wash with powder detergent, only liquid - but nothing about the dryer. Charlie

Yes it can get quite expensive continually purchasing new microfiber cloths. My first attempts at washing them caused me to have cloths with lots of embedded bits of other stuff from the laundry, and in the dryer, they seemed to collect all sorts of lint, fibers, etc as they act like Velcro (R)....

I wash mine without any other items. Yes, they pick up some loose threads, etc, but you can pluck them off fairly easily. I do use a HE liquid detergent (which is easier to remove during rinse) and use double rinse.

Tons of info online about auto detailing.

I like http://www.autopia.org/forum/forum.php.

Use "microfiber" in the search box.

You will find info on types of microfiber, various posters preferences on brands of microfiber, and all the info you would want on how to wash microfiber and what to use to wash them.

BE WARNED: After browsing autopia I (so far) have spend around $250 for various products including microfiber cloths to keep my Jenny nice and shiny.
