  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I'm more than likely going to be buying a 2010 3.8 v6 in a few weeks and had a few questions for anyone who either has one or knows. The car has bluetooth but does it work for music as well, my friend bought a Scion tc that has bluetooth but it only worked for syncing with his phone? Does it perform noticeably better with premium gas, I know it doesn't require it but does using regular impact performance at all? And where would a good place be to pick up body mods online? I want to change out the bumpers (current ones are weird non stock that just ruin the look imo), and maybe add a spoiler. I'm fairly new to cars so I'm sorry if any of this either doesn't make sense or is model specific. I grew up looking almost exclusively into getting a mustang but as I've gotten older I've learned looks aren't everything.

You may have reasons for looking at getting a 2010 Genesis and leaning toward getting the 3.8 version, or you may be looking at a specific Genesis that is a 2010 3.8 and wanting to buy that particular car. Either way I strongly urge you to get a Genesis, but which one or what model is something to think about.

I started looking into getting a Genesis and at first I thought getting a 2009 or 2010 would be more affordable than getting a newer one that is a first generation Genesis, namely 2011-2014. I considered whether to get the 3.8 or go with the V8 in the form of the 4.6 or 5.0. I also found out some improvements were made in the 2012 Genesis, including upgrade to an 8 speed automatic transmission, so I decided to go with the 2012. After reading that the 2012 4.6 or 5.0 models came standard with all the packages, I decided to go with the 5.0 if I could find one in the colors I preferred. Once I found one, I bought it.

Once you figure out which model to get, go and get it, and you won't regret it.

Well, at least in my 2012 Tech, the Bluetooth is for phone calls only. I had to buy a second BT receiver, and plug it into the aux port to stream. I think streaming was supposed to be introduced in the 13+ models.

There are three trim levels for the 2010 V6, with different Bluetooth systems, but don't know if any of them stream music:

  • Base
  • Premium Package
  • Technology Package

Using premium fuel on the V6 is probably overkill. However, I usually use 1/3 premium and 2/3 regular (or you could use mid-grade gas) and it does seem to have a little more power, and gets a little better MPG.

There is NO reason to buy premium. The falsehood that higher octane will equate to better performance is false in most every case. I have the 4.6 and it will run on either with a "claimed" increase of 10hp with premium. Well, my butt dyno cannot tell and gas mile is basically the same. What higher octane WILL do is spend more of your money and with at least 50 cents/gallon difference and probably more like 70 cents/gallon difference, why throw away $7-10 more per fill up?
Cannot address bluetooth except that my 2010 4.6 does not stream music and mine has the Tec package. If you wish to stream via bluetooth you will definitely need to get the adapter.

There are plenty of used Genesis sedans out there. Why buy one that needs the bumpers replaced?
