  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Question for 5.0 owners

Ok. From the September 2014 issue of Car & Driver test of 2014 Hyundai Genesis 5.0:

0-60- 5.0 sec
0-100- 12.3 sec
0-140- 27.4 sec
Rolling Start 5-60- 5.6 sec
1/4 mile- 13.6 sec @ 105 mph
Top Speed (Governor Limited)- 145 mph
Braking, 70-0- 167 ft.
Roadholding- 0.86G
EPA City/Hwy- 15/23 MPG
C/D Observed- 19 MPG

If you can still find the magazine, it is worth buying. The article is very complimentary on the Genesis.

Now, all that said, I thought the R-Spec was a 4.8ish 0-60 car.
bnajack - Thxs for your post with info from C&D. Your previous posts are clear and good information for us motor-head folks. Again, thxs. Regards

PS - I'm a previous 2013 Rspec owner, and the ride, cornering, and suspension selections on the 2015 5.0 Ultimate are way better than the 1st Generation Rspec. I actually liked the shape and WB on the 2013 Rspec, but hated the seats, and the dead pedal traction control ordeal with the 2013 Rspec. With that said, I still would have kept my 2013 if it had the seats that are in the 2015. But the 2015 is a much nicer/different league car than the 2013 rspec.

You forgot an important portion of your post: which game?
LOL ... It was ECU vs NCCU. Sort of a warm up game for ECU who won 52 to 7. This week ECU plays a really tough game against USC (South Carolina).

PS - I will say NCCU's band gave it all they had in a awesome half time show.

My brother leased (3 year lease) a New Q50 Infinity 4 door in Jan 2014. But after riding with me for 5 hours in my new 2015 5.0 Ultimate to a football game, he went in to get a new 2015 Genesis. He took at least a $10k hit on Infinity lease deal, but he wanted the Genesis due to how much better of a car it is than the Infinity Q50.

Yikes! As good as the new Genesis may be, to take an instant $10K+ hit seems over the top. Walking from a lease just 9 months into 36 months is virtual suicide, financially. Did he try and put it on swapalease or one of the other lease takeover services?

I think the point was even though the hit was hard the new ride is so much more improved in every way it is worth it to those with deeper pockets. ;)

I also come from a 2012 Rspec and the difference is substantial all around. A completely different ride to say the least.

Strange timings of 0-60 for the 5.0 AWD

Midnightsun... I completely agree with you on the ride quality from the 2012 R-Spec to the 2015 5.0 Ultimate. Its night and day. Much more comfortable drive and ride. Two completely different cars. Glad I made the change.
