  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Question for Platinum, other Metallic owners

Scott, It may seem nuts to you and if you cannot see what I was referring to in the photos, I completely understand. The issue developed as I purchased an untitled demo which left open the possibility that some body work had been done prior to my purchasing the car. When you park the car in your driveway as I do, and the first thing you notice in the morning and one of the last things you see in the evening is what looks like a second rate body shop job on your brand new car, it kind of rubs you the wrong way. As I said, I am more convinced now than before that this is simply the result of a curious design issue--one I find fascinating in that it was never discovered in the months/years the car was in development. If it turns out to be so, I'm certainly not going to ask for any type of satisfaction from Hyundai or the dealer. It is what it is and I can easily live by my decision to purchase the car as I love it. However, if it turns out to be something other than a design issue (body work not disclosed or a manufacturing defect) I would like it resolved. Fair enough?

My guess would be that if the shadows are present on an overcast day with the car parked on a uniform surface then parts of the car were repainted - not an uncommon occurrence. I have a platinum 3.8L and I've seen no such variations except on the bumper covers in some lighting conditions but they are a different material from the rest of the car. If the differences are there when reflections are not an issue (overcast, uniform surface) then I would photograph it, call Hyundai Customer Service (800) 633-5151, get a case number and arrange to meet a rep at the dealer's shop.

Right on man...I hear ya:) I do see what you are talking about, but mine's black so I don't see this on my own car, and more importantly, this is common on a ton of cars, I've seen this on many makes and models of cars lighter colors, but never thought much of it.

I have not noticed this on my gf's Graphite Sonata at all, but may not have looked hard enough. But if I don't notice it now, it may not be noticeable on her car with the design.
