  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

This is my primary source for music in my car but I have a few questions for you guys. I use a 2gb flash drive and I have about 100 songs in it. Is it suppose to scroll up and down really slowly? Also when I change songs, sometimes it would play the first 2 seconds of the song twice like it's replaying it. Also is there an option to display the whole name of the song or would I have to edit the names when I transfer the songs. For example on the screen it would say like Drake - ...... and I wouldn't be able to see the whole song name. Kind of hard to distinguish which song is which.

One more, this is for FM radio, sometimes I would get static on certain radio stations and it would skip some songs. This only happens on my car. I got a 2009 tech package and it's one of the earlier versions, I have been thinking of getting an update for GPS if it solves all these problems. Overall love the car.

USB playback is going to be limited by the sticks standard similar to classes for microSD cards and such, also limited by the USB technology. I've noticed the skipping in my 2011 when I have way to many songs on the device and it's trying to pre-cache all the names. Like I made a DVD with about 1000 mp3's on it and it takes forever to scroll through and some songs skip a bit before playing or while playing.

my suggestion would be to get a newer/better USB stick and see how that goes, I mean you can get a 32GB stick for chump change these days. I have an 8GB PNY stick that barely even initializes most of the time and when it does there are issues with paging or scrubbing. However the 8GB Alldata stick I use regularly works flawless everytime.

As for the name length, you're limited to the amount of characters the system can display in certain areas, like in the list say it's 10 characters and then when you're playing it 10 are visible, but it can scroll 15. So you'd need to rename them, and be sure to rename the actual file name as it doesn't work with ID3/4 tags.

As for FM issues, I don't know why it would skip songs on the radio unless you mean there was a gap of no noise for awhile and then suddenly a song played again and I've noticed that with some alternate HD channels. Like HD2 of a local station doesn't have anything playing not broadcast in HD so if I can't pick up a good signal for it it's just dead air.

As said, get the fastest access usb drives. I use the fastest usb micro stick and have about 3000 songs in various folders and sub folders for quick access. size is 16 gigs.

Thanks. Yeah will get a new USB since it's so cheap to get one now. Yeah the FM thing is a little weird but I don't listen to the radio too much.
