  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have a 3.8 base (no Tech). The trip computer shows AVG. Speed, AVG Fuel consumption, Elapsed time, etc., According to the manual it must be reset using the button on the steering wheel. However, it seems to reset itself every day. If I make several stops, it doesn't reset so I know turning the engine off isn't the trigger. But every morning, it starts at 0 again. Anyone know what triggers the resest? Does it have a calendar? Does it reset when the car is off for more than X hours? Is someone sneaking into my garage every night to mess with my head?

Average speed and elapsed time reset whenever the car feels like you're going on a new trip again. I haven't figured out how it determines that but it seems to be after a certain amount of time the car's been off.
Trip odometer (A and B) only reset manually using the button on the steering wheel.
Distance to empty and average fuel consumption resets every time more than 5 litres of fuel is added to the tank.

My average fuel consumption also resets itself whenever I fuel up. Don't know if it is because that is whats on the screen or not. Someday I will have something else on the screen, something like average speed, just to see if that is what resets whenever I refuel.

Trip odometers only reset by pushing the button.

My average fuel consumption also resets itself whenever I fuel up.
Exactly as documented in Owner's Manual. Page 4-54:

"If the vehicle speed exceeds 1.6 MPH (1 km/h) after refueled more than 1.6gallons (6 l), the average fuel consumption will be cleared to zero (---)."
