  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Greetings everyone.

I've been researching slightly used cars for a few weeks and hope to test-drive some Genesis models after the snow thaws a bit. I test-drove other makes and models, but still haven't found the feel I want, which is what led me to the Genesis.

On paper, the car seems to fit many of my needs (spacious luxury, quiet interior, comfortable ride, lots of headroom, ventilated driver's seat, 6 disc player, navigation, happily takes unleaded fuel, isn't flashy, moonroof, wood-esque trim, Bluetooth for Android music, etc). Basically a reliable vehicle for the comfort of myself and my passengers. I don't care about brands, though it would be fun to rebadge the rear flying H with a chrome picture of Phil Collins.

Ideally, I'll find a reasonably-priced Certified Pre-owned 2013 Hyundai Genesis 3.8L V6 with black or blue exterior, cashmere interior, premium package, technology package, and under 15,000 miles. (in great condition) (hoping to find one with the warranty intact - though obviously already begun)

I'm very curious as to the Genesis owners community's advice concerning what I should keep in mind. (when considering this vehicle while searching online, test-driving, negotiating, etc) And also your thoughts on the specifics I laid out for my ideal model as stated above.

And, obviously, the big question would be, "What price ranges do you think my model may fall into?" (understanding that miles, condition, etc will vary)

I thank you in advance for your thoughts, worries, praise, and assistance. As a token of my gratitude, here is a picture of a dog playing a Casio Keyboard next to a picture of Phil Collins.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I bought a 2012 3.8L Prem / Tech that the dealership had put 5,000 miles on - was $10,000 off list. You can see this in the thread as to what people paid for their Genesis. As it had never been titled it's a "new car" and I am first owner. Maybe look for one of those?

Note the standard warranty does not cover the stereo / gps for the standard timeframe (it's 36/36,000 I believe) - given the 2012 is a $3,000 swap out it's worth (imo) getting the extended warranty.

It's pretty common to take the flying H off the trunk and replace it with the Genesis logo / badge from trunk of the Korean Genesis. From my visual check it looks like ~1/2 to 2/3rd of owners in the midwest have done this (not statistically significant). Some people also buy the badge for the hood - I prefer mine bare (note there is no logo on the front - nice imo).

I'd look into CPO cars so that you still have the full factory warranty (or whatever's remaining). There should be plenty of cars out there fitting your requirements.

I would look through TrueCar's website and then spend time on Autotrader.com to establish some pricing ranges. That may be more real-world than KBB's data. Avoid rentals (although rentals aren't likely the way you've speced out what you want. Executive cars are ok with low miles if driven by GMs or owners (or owner's wives). Ask for printouts of CarFax, service records, TSBs, recalls (I don't think 2013s had any) and software updates.

Extended warranties are high-margin items with lots of room for negotiation. CPO cars may be your best bet, but whatever you do , understand all the fine print.

Many of your questions are answered on this forum using the search function.

Last but not least, is the dog playing the keyboard your dog and can you prove it?? If so, there is a possibility your dog may be allowed to post on this forum occasionally as a Junior member.

You can probably get $5K off a brand new 2013 model right now, or in the next few months. Might be worth it.

September past, I got $10K off a brand new 2013 Genesis with the premium package. You may do even better on a new 2013 now.

There is no six disc CD changer in the 2013's. Considering the 2014's are out, you should be able to do quite well on a new 2013. You may look long and hard for a CPO car. With the deals available, I gave up and bought a new one.
