  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

1. Aside from getting better MPG with premium gas over regular, are premium fuel actually better for your engine?

2. Is it bad for the car if I have Auto Hold feature on all the time? I can't think of a reason why anyone would have this feature turned off.

3. How do you guys clean the perforated leather seats when stuff get stuck in those tiny holes?

4. How long do the stock tires last on normal driving condition? 30k miles? 40k?

5. Is Genesis completely undrivable when it snows? Should I get the snow chains ready?

6. Do you use sports mode when you wanna go fast?

Prem. gas is no better for your engine is made to run on reg. 87 oct. If an engine is mad just for prem. gas the continuous use of reg. could cause engine damage. The 4.6 runs fine on reg. and gives more power with prem. I clean my leather with "Tuff Stuff" foam cleaner and use Lexol.

1. If your engine was not designed to operate on premium, then using it gets you no benefits except to empty your wallet quicker.

2. ????

3. With a vacuum cleaner and soft brush.

4. No set answer there. I've been told the original tires on my Vette are good for about 15K. Currently have about 8500 on it. Have about 16K on the Genesis and there is some wear on the back. They've been rotated once. But OEM tires are not the best offered even by Dunlop. At one time you used to be able to guess by doubling the UTQG number. You can't do that any more.

5. Don't know what to tell you if you can't drive in snow. I've never had any problems driving in snow regardless of what I was driving and where I was living. BTW I've never ever used chains. Just be careful and be aware of what is around you. You should be fine.

6. If I want to go fast, I put my foot on the accelerator. The car is smart enough to do the rest for me.

So long as your car is designed to run on both fuels, I don't think either is "better" - although higer octane allows more timing advance without detonation.

Mine is usually off because it cuts off every time you shut the power off, and I usually forget to re-engage it. I assume that running with it on all the time is fine, since Hyundai actually allowed that condition by design.

Mine is too new to have gotten dirty yet, so I'll be interested in the answer. On my previous Genesis, i started by running a vacuum over the seats, but that pulled tiny tufts of white thread-like stuff up thru the ventilation holes.

4. How long do the stock tires last on normal driving condition? 30k miles? 40k?

I traded my 09 with just under 18K miles. I would be suprised if the tires would have passed inspection.

I drove the 09 to the NC mountains for a ski trip. The GF and I decided to go off-resort for lunch. on the way out, we turned off the main road into slope side condo neighborhood, just to see the houses. About a 1/4 mile in, we crested a very minor hill, then down a slight incline. The road hadn't been plowed (ever, it looked like), was hard packed, and might have experienced a thaw/freeze cycle or two. The road ended in a cul de sac - and so did my traction. Even though the incline could not have been more than 2-3 degrees, the Genesis could not get back up the slope.

The second worst part - several helpful people stopped and offered to tow me to the top of the rise. Unfortunately, there is no place on the car to hook a strap!

The Worst Part? My GF asking me several times if maybe we should read the owners manual, and me telling her (in a frustrated voice) that I've driven in Germany, West Virginia, and Alaska. I don't need a manual to know how to tow a car. Imagine my joy when the tow truck finally arrived, popped the access cover off the front bumper, screwed in the towing eye, and pulled me to the top of the hill - exactly as described in the manual.

I only cut the ESC off when I want to wear my tires out quicker by causing them to spin.

3. I had the same issue when I first tried using a premium leather cream. I found that Meguiars Gold Class Leather Spray and a micro-fiber rage work perfect.

6. Sports mode? The 2011 has this feature? all I have is a partial disabling of traction control.....I would love a true sport mode that actually adjusted the trans shifting and fuel/timing mapping. I swear the shift from 1st to 2nd is so lazy that it add 1/2 second in 0-60.

So far as I can tell, my 2011 has the same electronic traction control as my 2009 did. So far as I can tell, there are no other user selectable "sport" options except the shifter.

If I could ask, what is Auto Hold?

If I could ask, what is Auto Hold?

If you have autohold enabled, you may remove your foot from the brake after you come to a complete stop, no matter the severity of the slope you are on. So - come to a stop light on a steep hill, no need to sit there with your foot on the brake. When the light turns green, just press on the accelerator and go.
