  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Last Monday I was rear ended on my way to work. I just received the news yesterday that she was to be totaled. I can't say that the colors were my favorite, but I really REALLY liked my car. But the good news is I catch a plane tomorrow morning to pick up my new ride; a CPO 2014 5.0 R-Spec. In my favorite colors, silver on black. From there I drive from Medford Oregon back home to Houston. That is going to be a 2200-2500 mile road trip back. I am stoked! R.I.P. Red Sonja...

That looks like a good hit but seems like you're doing ok!

The crumple zones worked as intended. The body buckled right behind the sunroof and the back seat floor pans. I have a lot of neck pain but that is being managed. If the car did not crumple and more force was transmitted directly to me, I would have likely been in the hospital. My dealership told me they suspect the truck driver was still on the gas when he hit me due to the buckling of the unibody structure. As much as it sucks, I am glad the car took the brunt of the impact and not me.

Totaled? C'mon! That'l buff right out! :D :D :D

Seriously, it's good news that you are OK, and you've got a new ride coming.

First of all, glad to hear you're okay! Secondly, that should be a fun drive home from Oregon; hopefully the weather will cooperate. Get your playlists ready!!

Weather looks good so far. I plan on taking the 101 down the coast and then cutting across past the Grand Canyon and then thru the mountains in New Mexico. From there we will burn down I-10 home. Right now my 5 day trip is looking at ~3000 miles. I plan on having a lot of fun and already have a 3000 song playlist and unlimited data. Good music is a requirement!

Be sure to take I 10 across. I 40 is a culinary wasteland from Bakersfield to Amarillo with the exception of Flagstaff and Albuquerque.

Sorry to hear but I'd love to see images of the new ride. Keep us updated!

I did a similar drive about 10 years ago in my Acura TL. I drove from Glacier National Park to Grand Canyon National Park, down through New Mexico and then to Austin (where I lived at the time). The Grand Canyon is stunning and all that, and if you've never been you should definitely go. However subjectively speaking, in terms of beauty, the Canyon pales in comparison to Bryce Canyon and Zion National Parks in Utah (which I hit on the way).

Glad you're okay! I hope your neck heals quickly... Let us know what you think of that R-Spec...

Once you get into Rspec, you'll stop thinking about your "old car" before you hit the state line with California :D

Great to hear you're okay even if your old car is not so okay. You're going to love the new Genesis. The 5.0 engine is great. The Adaptive Cruise Control is great for those long hours of cruising down the highway.

Last time I drove I-40 from ALB through the panhandle of TX it was a mess. Very rough road. Can't imagine driving it in the R-spec (I did it in an Avalon). Houston's interstates aren't in great shape either, especially the concrete ones! That's likely to be a rough ride in the R-spec.

That sucks. Looks like a twin of my car. Enjoy the R-Spec.

Sorry about the car, that's crazy how it hit right above your bumper.

Absolutely! I'm from Canada but I rented a car in Las Vegas and drove through Utah, Arizona and Nevada. The sights are amazing and the red deserts and antelope canyon look like they're from another planet. I highly recommend Bryce, Zion, Valley of Fire and river walks if they're along the way!

Did you fall out of the car, screaming, "Ow, my spleen"????
Tell them that ever since the accident, you've had to sleep under the bed?
Put a small stone in your shoe to produce a limp.
Speaking of that, tell them that, since the accident, you've been having "man problems"

Better call Saul.

(Nobody had Red when I was buying)

Wow I have to say the genny took that one like a champ. Can you imagine how bad it would look in a smaller fwd car like a camry or a malibu?

Glad you are ok!!!
RIP .....
