Radio auxiliary input makes loud "popping" noise and only plays 1 second of audio
I have an 09 genesis sedan 4.6 tech w/ lexicon sound system.
From the day I bought the car the auxiliary input has not worked. When I plug something (my phone, a Samsung Galaxy S6) in it does not play. If I hit the back button and go to the auxiliary menu and wait, eventually I hear a loud "popping" noise. If I immediately press the large knob to go to auxiliary input I will hear approximately 1 second of whatever song is streaming on my phone before it cuts out again.
I've had it at the dealer and they said it was my auxiliary jack in the center console, so I had them replace it. That did not fix the problem.
The dealership took apart the whole center console to check grounds and eventually took the head unit out. They told me that the factory wiring harness had been cut and that they would need to replace the whole thing ($1000 for just the dash harness). They said that there are supposed to be 3 small Jack's in the back (1 to the monitor, 1 as an input from the auxiliary jack, and 1 as an input from the usb). Mine only has the jack going to the monitor.
I took my car to an automotive electrical shop and explained, and showed them, what was happening. They looked at the wiring, and told me that there was nothing aftermarket about the wiring. They told me that the problem was in my head unit.
I ordered another head unit and it is doing the same thing... I'm not sure where to go from here. Could someone with an 09 like mine please post a picture of the connections on the back of their head unit. I would like to know whether the dealership is right (they haven't had a good track record of being right on other issues with my car so far), or if the electrical shop is right about how many connections should be going into the back of my head unit.
Thank you in advance. I'd just like to be able to stream my music in my car.
