  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Rattles On Rear Deck

So I finally got my car today to my local dealer for an oil change and to address the rattles coming from the rear deck. Dealer said that both rear shock absorbers need to be replaced. Since the parts were not in stock, I will have to go back Monday.
My car has 16K miles, I do 90% hwy driving and hardly hit any potholes.
What gives?

Took my car to the dealer on Friday and they swapped out the center rear speaker. I got in the car and began to leave the dealer as I was queuing up the song that best represents the noise. The song is Like Sugar by Matchbox 20. The first 7 seconds of this song makes the vibration loud and clear.

I turned around and went back to the dealer and told them the noise is still there. The tech got in the backseat and I kept playing the beginning of the song. The tech had me raise the shade and start the song again. The noise was there but not as noticeable.

I take the car back today and they are going to take apart the shade and see if they can tighten it up. It seems clear to me that my noise is coming from the shade or surrounding installation of the shade. I will report back what happens next.

I took my car back to the dealer and they checked on the shade. They think it is the shade but need more proof before they will replace it.

The service manager will keep a copy of the song and attempt to reproduce the issue on any of the Genesis that come in for service. They told me if they can prove it is the shade on another vehicle that they will replace mine.

I am stuck with it for now.

Here is a link to the song that creates the perfect harmonics to make the rattle extremely noticeable in my car. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aj2xZrXXdPE"]Matchbox Twenty - Like Sugar [2012][Lyrics] - YouTube[/ame]

It is the first 7-10 seconds of the song that rattle the most.

I'm subscribing. If you really want to hear the rattling, play 6 foot 7 foot by Lil Wayne. I don't generally listen to that sort of music but when it's playing, it sounds like a stereotypical vehicle that has a poor, "thumping," system in it.

I have a slight rattling noise that emanates from the right rear area of the cabin. It's neither audit system nor under-car related, but has the sound of a fit/finish deal and I've been unable to chase it down or isolate it.

I too have what seems to be a fit/finish popping noise from the rear and can't find the source. It may do it while driving slow or fast. It may pop on a smooth road and not on a bumpy road or area. It has even popped a few times after coming to a full stop and sitting there for a few seconds absolutely still. It did it more this past winter in the cold than it does now in warm weather. It is random and may only pop once in a while or may pop a few times in a row. I have taken everything from the trunk (everything) and no change. Rear screen up or down doesn't matter either. Rear seat can be empty or have passengers, no change. Radio on or off, no change. It's driving us nuts.

I put DynaMat under the rear deck and seats, fully surrounding the speakers. While the shade is up it occasionally vibrates if enough bass hits it, when the shade is down very rarely do I hear anything from it at all. I'm not 100% sure but I think in the 2013's they slightly changed the shade or speaker position on the back deck. I bought the DynaMat on Amazon.com, though you might find it cheaper somewhere else..it was considerably less then what Best Buy and other local shops were asking for it.

How you removed rear deck??? It seems very hard!!
