  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi Everyone,

Just became a new member.Bought a 2009 genesis sedan 4.6 lt.(brand new)sedan in octoberAbsolutely love this car, this was a big move for me having been a 3x Lexus owner. No regrets.I have just recently re-badged the trunk emblem.

My questions are. 1) Does the new aftermarket steering wheel emblem fit over top of the existing flying "H" or can I remove the existing emblem with a heat gun? 2) I have read that some of you have merely replaced the centre of the wheel cover with the genesis wings,or is it neccesary to buy the whole insert? I have the ones that are the spider shaped configuration(best way to describe).Do the center round caps come off with a heat gun?

Thanxs in advance for your help.

Another option for the steering wheel emblem is to replace the airbag. Cost more, looks great. IMO the stick on emblem (which I installed at first) looks tacky and cheap, especially for a car like the Genesis. $245 for the new airbag with wing emblem....sold OEM airbag for $150 on Ebay.

+1
The stick on emblem does look cheap. The replacement airbag is a tad expensive, but I'm not sorry I got it. Here's mine on an aftermarket steering wheel from KAI: http://www.genesisowners.com/hyundai-genesis-forum/album.php?albumid=317&pictureid=1851. (The interior is black, but the photo was taken in bright sunlight and is overexposed, making it look gray)

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I agree the replacement airbag looks better however I don't think the stick on cover looks any worse than the lazy H. For the price it is a nothing to lose decision.

Anyone have pics of the stick-on emblem? It doesn't look too bad in the shots on the kdmstuff.com web site, but they're dark.

I have a pic posted above just below the larger pic of the new airbag. Click to enlarge

You mind me asking what color interior you have? Are your seats black or are they saddle like your trim? Thanks.

My seats are black, but interior has the saddle dash and door highlights (which I love!)

I'm trying to get that combination also, I was curious if they still offered it. I'll have to check with the dealer about it.

You know... I don't mind the sticker too much - it is a tad "too shiny" for my taste, but it's not cheaper looking than the rest of the steering wheel - I was really hoping Hyundai would update the steering wheel controls in the 2012 - they are cheaper-looking than the rest of the interior... sorry, I can't really explain it, that's just how they appear to me.

I wonder what a faux-wood background on the sticker would look like instead of the black... you know, to match the wood accents on the 4.6 wheel and the rest of the dash? Whaddya say?

You mentioned you got the replacement cover for $245.00. Can I ask Where you got this and if it was from Korea how much where the duties?

It comes in the OEM bag/wrapping with Korean writing on the package, and the $245 includes shipping. I received my new airbag in just about 5 days at most, which is pretty quick coming from Korea. Takes about 20 minutes for the installation, which is pretty easy, and I have never replaced an airbag before this. It's important to disconnect the battery first of course.
