  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Ready for winter driving

Yep. You will be able to stop .1 mm shorter than me.

Having to buy a new set of winter tires from scratch, the parts in bold/underline from the Tire Rack Blog below are why I will buy the LM-32 over the LM-60 - has nothing to do with stopping 0.1 mm shorter as, in many years, much of our winter in NJ is just cold with no snow or weeks between snow with clean roads - and I don't plan on continuously swapping wheels all winter!

"While the Bridgestone Blizzak line has always been known for its top-of-the-class winter traction, it has given up ground recently to some models that offer competitive levels of grip, but tend to handle better on dry or wet plowed roads.

The new Bridgestone Blizzak LM-32 aims to pick up where the LM-60 left off while increasing steering response and dry road handling. Offered in numerous sizes and featuring speed ratings as high as W (168 mph), the new LM-32 should be at the top of your list if you are looking for a tire that can handle most anything winter throws at it, while still being pleasurable to drive on when conditions aren't as nasty.

Higher speed ratings traditionally correlate directly with on-center feel, lane change responsiveness and sidewall rigidity. The higher the speed rating, the better the tire typically performs under such criteria. With that said, apart from a higher terminal top speed (LM-60 is H-speed rated for 130 mph), the new LM-32 looks to be a better handling tire than its predecessor, but still retains the aggressive directional pattern the Blizzak line is known for."

Guys, are you really think you gonna outperform any of those winter tires??? I'd like to see that! :D

Sorry, if not clear - but I want winter tires that don't trade off as much in dry road comfort and feel. It seems like the LM-32 improves a little on those areas - that's all.

LM60s on a Genny is amazing. Keep them I vouch based on last year Midwest snow Chaos. Never had to drive the Expedition in snow and park Genny. Once it hits 40 degrees for more than few days, go back to normal tires. These like any winter tire will wear quickly if you smoke them on dry road and drive with warm streets and air temp.

My driving was highway blizzards, country deep drifts, in town ice and slush, and snow. The car brakes, handles and pulls away like a tank in snow, ice, slush... They are amazing on black ice and blowing snow across said ice. Like any tire they have limits. They seem to be designed for a Genny like chassis

The LM60 will drop mileage a couple MPG on dry cold pavement. They are quieter than any Dungflops. Not las quiet a new Potenza or Michelin tire. Again, keep them! You will love them. You can try newer tech after these are gone.

I was referring to Nokian for winter season only. Which the LM60 and LM32 are winter season only. The Tesla folks swear they are the best winter tire. And thy have enough cash to have tried multiple types on the same car.

Our twinship is growing closer every day. Just awaiting for my Blizzaks to arrive. ws80

See above for response. Keep them. Unless you have tons of money just to burn to satisfy elite in the forum.

Opps. ^^ was for dareckibmw

Those LM-60 still have 9/32 life in them! You know how much I paid for them, right? I don't care about newer model at this point :D

I suggest keep them use them. See above.

@DRS
These Bridgestone Blizzak's will be my second set of winter wheels ever. I've had LM-25's on my E39 540i manual trans. my car became unstoppable, even in snow over 1 foot, of course they weren't the latest model but they did an excellent job. I bought them used from another bimmer fanatic :D for 600.00 wheels were in mint condition., not one scratch or a scuff on them.
I'm aware that MPG will drop a few points, but hey! it's a v8 with 429 ponies under the hood, right! :D

I could always take my Wife's AWD Santa Fe, if I don't feel driving my beast in the snow ;)

Hey bud, nobody said or implied LM 60's are no good, simply improved. This is a forum where advice is given and pointing out that the LM60's are discontinued is advice unlike steering others on a wild goose chase hunting down a discontinued product that you may find in an old dusty garage as a leftover from the previous year.

Is Remote Start feature for 2015 Genesis free or require BlueLink subscription?

Free for the trial - need paid subscription after that. Details are all on the Bluelink site.

The person I was speaking to already had the LM60s, bud.

I just picked up a set of Nokian's for my '09 based on a number of personal recommendations. Wet seems good in comparison to my previous winters. (Goodyear Ultra Ice Grip) No snow yet so I can't give my opinion on that yet. Squirrely on dry when accelerating on the highway, but I believe this is a condition of new winter tires in general.

Thanks.

Correct. The wheels didn't clear the calipers and ended up selling them

I'm in the same position. I had some Michelin X-Ice's on 18's from my old car and the top of the caliper on the Genesis rubs the barrel of the wheel, and that's without accounting for wheel weights, etc.

I don't feel like there's a good solution with this car. Even though snow tires would still be a significant improvement, it would be much better if you could downsize the width in the process... 275 (and staggered in general) are non-ideal for snow.

I guess I could sell both sets of wheels and get a set of 20's with pilot super sports for the summer and a set of narrower 19's with snow tires for the winter... $$$$

The 5.0 has larger brakes and apparently require 19" wheels for clearance on the calipers.

Had the Blizzaks installed this morning and she had her maiden snow voyage. I am extremely pleased with how the car drove in the snow.
