Thank you for mentioning the Stinger. I was a bit put off by all the reviews that said G70 drove better, but when I went back and watched the same reviewers’ earlier Stinger reviews they were praising it highly. Would you post your test drive impressions on this thread?
Alternatives to G70?
Thanks!
I think the G70 is a sharper ride in the corners, flatter and feels more like what I would expect out of that type of car (3 series/S4/C Class) whereas the
Stinger when I drove it still felt good and rode nicely.
Stinger was the first car I test drove when we started and was still in the running right to the end. Both my wife and I liked it a lot and would have gone that way just for the extra room had all things been equal because frankly I do like to push and drive a good windy road but I'm not going to go nuts so the extra sharpness of the G70, while good, would have been satisfied well enough in the
Stinger. The problem for us was I couldn't A) get a Kia dealer to come to the table and B) get a price/rate that even came remotely close to the G70.
Some notes from my numbers specific to my scenario. These are all in prices with Freight, taxes and all the odds and sods. I was trading in a 2013 Santa Fe Sport that had a balance of $16400. In the case of the Santa Fe I never completed that quote because they were jerking me around though I suspect it'd fall in line with the others, payment on that specific vehicle would have been closer to $605 a month in reality. The two G70 had the trade in value difference and the incentives included in the numbers, there was only the required $1000 down in those numbers. The Kia had no money down and the trade difference included. the Mercedes had $5000 down to get to that payment. Admittedly a much more expensive car, very much a good deal given it's pricing, but feature for feature a good third less content than the
Stinger, G70 or Santa Fe. This was my short list. Some other considerations that didn't make it were the CX-5, XC-40, A4 and 3 Series though I never ended up including the last two on the list because they were off in left field pricing wise. The C300 originally only made it on the list because the payments looked a lot better but they are the pros at the hidden cost when you sit down.
Keep in mind this is Canadian and your rates and deals you can swing will vary but it gives you a sense of how numbers were looking for me. If I didn't have a trade deficit buried in the G70 Dynamic like I do above, assuming I put down 3500 more to cover that like I essentially am to get that C300 payment there, it's payment would basically be at or just below $600 a month. It's really hard to beat these things on performance/content/price right now.
