  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I just picked up a Thule Raceway 2 rear mount rack for my 2012 Genesis. The rack is amazing. It fits our Audi perfectly...I wish that was the case for the Genesis.

The bottom hooks of the rack won't fit in the space between the bottom of the trunk and the bumper. No problem...I'll try hooking on below the bumper. Unfortunately, I looked below the bumper and everything is super smooth. There's nothing to hook anything on to.

Anyone out there with some ideas?

Thanks!

hmmm....the underside of the rear bumper should have 2 seperate pieces of plastic...where the bumper starts and where the aft undercarriage shroud ends, would it be possible to fit the hooks between these 2 pieces?

I would use caution though, im pretty sure that these 2 body pieces are not designed to bear weight or be under tension.

Try the dealer or a bike shop, im pretty sure they would have a much better idea of how to mount than we would.

btw, what type of bike(s) do you have? I'm assuming a Schwinn..:D

Good luck!

I don't think so. The hooks have are aggressively angled and won't fit into most seems. It's not like they are right angles.

thx

EDIT - Schwinn is just a reference to a few old bikes I like to collect.

Update: I submitted a support request last night with Thule...they promptly responded via email with the following.

Thank you for the email. That rack has been verified to fit on that car. You might have the dealer where you purchased the item help you install it, it is difficult to offer assistance without seeing the scenario. There should be just enough space to slip those hooks under the trunk lid. Thank you.

Sadly, I just don't see how this is possible. I've installed hundreds of racks over the years (used to work at a bike shop) and have never run into this before.
