  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Rear deck lid spoiler help

Kevin, what color? I stupidly bought from CAR ID thinking that paying more would ensure a better part. My car is grey (NY paint code), and let's just say I'm less than impressed. Anyone can match black, and the paint is the right shade, but I got in a hurry and installed it last night as the sun was going down. In the sunlight today, it's obvious the match of the metal flake,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,doesn't.

Personally........I don't think you will get the paint to match unless you have the spoiler painted at a shop and not from an online retailer. I bought mine from Woodview.com a couple of years ago (see my thread), which was previous exoticwooddash.com..........and now CarID.com:) I'm satisfied, but it's not perfect, but I got what I paid for. My detailer mentioned the difference, but hardly anyone not involved in the paint or detail world would notice.

I know it's possible because I got a near perfect match on my A6 and the E55, but this isn't all that close. It's not "terrible", but I'm "that picky guy" and it bugs the hell out of me when I know it could be so much better. My fault for getting in a hurry and sticking it on last night instead of waiting to look at in the day. It's tough to pull these off but I might do that and paint it, I've got plenty of 3M tape to re-install.

Mine looks great,,,,,,,,,at 50 feet:

It's the "t5I"

Actually, it looks good at anything over 10', but up close, it's easier to see the difference. Great shape though, and it does come with 2 bolts that you do not need.

How is the spoiler from http://bit.ly/15NXv9L installed? Does it require holes drilled? I have a cabernet red pearl Genesis. Anyone had experience with the paint match of this color?

That is the one I got. 3m tape holds it on and no screws. The paint match is very good.

I bought the T5i from carid, easy to install without screws and a very good paint match.

I'll post a pic tomorrow.

What was your cost if u dont mind me asking? Found the one on ebay from link above for $159 free shipping... Wondering if there is a price difference of yours and that one

It changed in 2012. The 2013 is the same.

Why does it say this forum isnt allowing pics to be downloaded?

I use photobucket.com to upload my pics and its always allowed.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
regarding the 3M tape you guys used, do you have a item number or which tape to use for the application? There's lots of choices.

Mine that i bought off ebay comes already installed on the spoiler

Im pretty sure that most come equipped like this

I actually bought this spoiler from Korean Auto Imports, it did not come w/ directions and it does not appear to need screws... just wanted to make sure I bought the right 3M tape.

Has anyone bought the roof spoiler? There are a couple companies on Ebay selling them, and CarID sells it as well. I was curious how the install was on that, and how good the color match is.

Red 3m VHB tape

Warning on carid roof spoiler. I bought one and mocked it up on the rear window. It seemed too straight. Needed more bend to be flush to the glass. I called car ID they called manufacturer. They claimed it would be fine. The red 3m tape would hold it too the window. Since I planned to paint it before install I asked if I could return it if they were wrong but I had already painted it.

So my reward for trusting the carid rep is that both ends of the roof spoiler lift off. It's noticeable and will make you crazy if you are car OCD.
