Rear speakers lower than front

I have a 2011 4.6 and I noticed that the sound isn't as balanced. I sat in the back seat and played around with the fader settings. Once with the sound in the middle and I heard the front speakers more than one full sound. Then I panned the sound to just the rear speakers and the rear speakers were very very low. The volume was on about 19 or 20. Is this normal or are my rear speakers going bad?

Check your surround sound settings. Also check the source and find out if rear volune varies with the source, ie radio, usb, cd

If the rear speakers are surround sound rear channels (wither discrete or simulated surround), then I would not expect them to be the same sound pressure level as the fronts.

I think this just the way most systems are engineered these days, with the sound focused for the front seat passengers' benefit. My wife's Outback, with the premium HK sound system has very weak sound in the back seat, and if you set the fader to full rear, the subwoofer cuts out completely.

Not like the old days when the rear deck's 6x9s drove most of the sound.

This whole discussion would be like someone going to a concert and complaining that the sound was mainly coming from the stage in front of them.

Harmon International spent a lot of money to make the Lexicon sound system to sound like a real concert experience (with the main sound coming from the front, and some reflected sounds coming from the sides and the rear), and not like a 1980's car stereo system.

First, I didn't try and convince anyone, I just said it. Second, you left out the part about the deepcolor constantly "driving it hard in manual shift mode, near the redline" when the engine blew. It was those two things taken together.

I did try and convince people that being a NASCAR fan, or someone who occasionally raced cars, was not an insult.

A very large number of my posts were about the suspension, which back in 2009 many refused to believe was less than perfect. There were mega discussions back in 2009-2010 about the suspension, and it has continued.

Second most posted subject is the sudden brake failure caused by a defect in the HECU, supposedly fixed with DOT-4 brake fluid (but not really fixed).

Just as a reminder, I believe that you can block all my posts if you don't want to see them (although not 100% sure).

Partly because I bought my Genesis in January 2009, and still have it (only 53,500 miles so far).

I have mine faded to the rear by 2. Find that with my seat position being farther back it balances out the sound better.

I have mine set to front/rear even, left/right even, surround off. The 320kbps mp3's I play sound fantastic.

I am 6' 3" and have the seat pretty far back as well. I'll have to try fading a little to the rear to see how it impacts sound.

I find this sounds great as well when I'm driving. I've sat in the back once, while working on soundproofing the car...

I did have friends in the back seats before and no one said anything negative about the sound. I think it makes sense to have higher volume in front of you rather than behind, unless you're watching a movie with surround sound and some loud noise behind the camera...
