If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Has anyone noticed that if you drive with the windows down and the rear window shade up on the highway. The wind resistance pushes the window shade up against the back window and stains the back window with some kind of grease or residue?

Can't remember when was the last time I drove with my windows down, either around town or on the hwy.

I am with HughH on this one. Haven't driven much, if at all, with the windows down. Maybe i'll check the shade to see if there is any greasy residue on it.

I haven't noticed this yet, but I notice the shade bounces around with the windows down.

No...... but I have noticed that when I drive with my doors open the drivers in the next lane are mighty pissed..........

This isn't really an issue..... who drives with their windows down on the highway?....... Try pushing the button marked AC it will keep the shade from marking up your window :)

Or if you must drive with the windows down put the shade down.

I have noticed the streaking even when the windows are up and the car is parked. It is not bad and rubs off easily but I wonder over the long term if it might mark the window tinting. Re-tinting the back window would be a real bear!

YES! This is what I was worried about. I don't really care about the streaking, as it rubs off easily with cleaner. I'm just worried about it messing up the ceramic tint over the life of the car. Having to get tint removed for the back window is super tricky.

Huh? I drive with my windows down all the time - much prefer that to AC if at all possible. No noise whatsoever, but the sunshade is down. Not sure what the value of this is - I've never used it. What an I missing?

Blocks the sun from hitting the back seat passengers.

Or car is parked and its really sunny, put it up, keeps out some heat i believe.

I'm not sure I follow........ what do you mean no noise whatsoever ?........ So let me get this straight...... when you are on the highway at highway speeds you drive with the windows down instead of using AC?........ Did you just wake up from your 1960's Coma?

Let me clarify: no noise from the windshade.

Yes, I ABSOLUTELY prefer to drive with the windows down, weather permitting. It was 75 degrees in Boston yesterday and you couldn't ask for more perfect weather. Why is that so unbelievable?

I don't think the rear window shade is really supposed to be used while travelling at speed with the windows open. I don't use that much on the road unless I have passengers in the back.

I also drive with the windows down whenever possible, but if its real hot, I'll throw the AC on.

It's not unbelievable...... I just don't see many people driving with the windows down on the highway unless they are driving an old car with no AC...... personally I don't like the noise or the air flow........

Gentlemen, we are beginning to meander from the original post. Instead of bickering about who does what, let's just agree that at certain speeds, it's not suggested to have the window shade up and the windows down simultaneously.

Understandable, to each his own. Personally, I forgot I had the sunshade - never had one on any car before and I very rarely have people in the back seat.

Maybe I'll do some experimeting to see if it keeps the car cooler when parked in the sun. I honestly don't see how it could make that much of a differnece though.

The rear shade is a very nice detail. Up, down, down, up, who cares. It look nice and it adds to the coolness of the car.
