  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I finally got the last piece to my rebadge job. I wanted the steering wheel that came on the 4.6 so I bought it. So the complete job is as follows:

Winged wheel caps
Hood and Trunk wings
Moved the Genesis logo to the left of the trunk
Added the BH380 to the right of the trunk
Replaced the steering wheel with the wood and leather version
Changed the airbag to the winged version
Windows tinted

I think it looks pretty good. The pictures are not the best, but the time of day was late in the afternoon.

Thanks dataguy! I'll try to take some pictures when I have time to do it earlier in the day when there is more light and with a better backdrop to post in the picture gallery.

I do get a kick out of people looking at it and wondering what it is. I was at the dealership service center this past Monday and a customer came over to look at it and you could see the curiosity on his face. I still don't see too many of these cars in the east Orlando area. I think I have seen a total of three. Two of them were rebadged. One guy parked in front of me with his rebadged Genesis in the middle of a parking lot away from other cars. Too bad I didn't get a chance to chat with the guy.

Ok odd question. Are you keeping or selling the all leather steering wheel?

If sellling , what are you asking?

I am not sure what you are talking about. Your photos are fine. Direct sunlight is the worst possible lighting to take photographs in (just look at any advertising or manufacturer websites).

quick question, just ordered one of those front badge but it came with 2 post, one round, one irregular.. dont know how to install them maybe you guys can give me a hand?.. do you have to drill the hood or is there an easier way to do it? thanks.. i love tha look of that car!! well done!:grouphug:

Since the North American hoods do not have the holes for a badge, you will need to remove the posts. The badge will stay on without the posts, but it is a little trickier to get the placement so it is centered and straight. Most people use a Dremmel type tool to grind the posts off. Don't even think about drilling holes in your hood.

Wallymn: Sorry, I'm keeping the steering wheel, plus it has some minor scratches on the leather on the lower portion. I wouldn't want to sell it that way.

Mark: I took the pictures in the shade in my driveway. I would prefer taking new pictures away from the shade. I shouldn't have said direct sunlight which usually means mid day but perhaps closer to the golden hour against a better background. I just wanted to get some quick pics while the car was clean. :-)

Ryss003: Like Mark mentioned, you have to remove the posts from the badge itself, do not drill holes in your hood. I used a Dremmel-like tool with a small cutting/grinding wheel. It came right off, no problem. Trying to get the badge perfectly centered is the fun part.

Thanks! I'm very happy with the look, it does have a more refined look to it. Adding the BH380 also gave it a model name instead of everything being Genesis without the Hyundai badge. I love watching people look at it with a puzzled look wondering what it is. Lucky for me I have only seen three of these cars on my end of town, but that will slowly change.

What does the BH380 stand for? I'm assuming for the 3.8L?

Does the 4.6 have a BH460? Whats the BH for?

I'm doubting it since the V8 is not in the Korean market.

BH380 and BH330 badging are the only OEM badging...as scottdk pointed out, there is no 4.6 in the KDM.

BH is just the internal platform code name (BK is the Genesis Coupe, the new Sonata is YF, the current generation Santa Fe is CM, the second-generation Equus is VS, etc.). If you look on the hmaservice.com site, they have the information organized by platform and codename since the original Excel.

I have the glue-over steering wheel wing badge. What's involved in getting the embedded badge, and how much does it cost?

$245 shipped from Soulfulracing.com and about 20 minutes of your time.

Replacing the airbag is pretty easy (i've never done this prior) and I sold my OEM airbag on Ebay for $150.

Is it not possible to just replace the airbag cover without replacing the entire airbag? What is the reason you are replacing the airbag module.

If we go with the stick on wing emblem that goes over the flying H on the steering wheel, is there any danger that can come from this in the event the airbag deploys? When the airbag deploys, where exactly on the steering wheel does it come out from?

It is not possible to just replace the cover. If you can handle the look of the stick on emblem, there is no harm to come from the emblem in the event the airbag deploys. If this happens, I pray that you are ok, and that the emblem gets blown into a million pieces:D

Ok here's my story:

Purchased a kit with the front, rear, and steering wheel emblems off of eBay, paid $40.

Researched how to install, read forums, youtube, etc. Very helpful, thanks to everyone for posting.

I used 20lb fishing line to remove the rear emblem. Worked fine, didn't break even though I had to use a good bit of force in some places. Cost me $2.50 for a spool of it at walmart.

I had more work than I expected with the adhesive. Probably due to it being February and cold, but the emblem came off but almost all of the backing was still on the car. I used Goo Gone (great stuff, its your friend) and just worked at the adhesive until I could get it all off. It helped a great deal to keep warming it up with the hair dryer, that seemed to let the Goo Gone work better and loosen it more.

After the adhesive was all gone (no scratches at all), I used windex to clean the area completely. Then putting the new rear emblem on is as simple as removing the backing from the emblem and placing it into the holes. 30 seconds of pressure and it was done, looks awesome.

I installed the steering wheel emblem cover. It looks fine, though not as nice as the true embedded one. Still debating if its worth the money to buy a new airbag.

I went ahead and installed the front emblem too, I was debating on this but I think it does look good. Removed the posts with a Dremel Multi Max, sliced them right off with no problem. I used the Metal blade but most likely any of them would have worked fine except for maybe the Flexible Scraper blade. I then lined it up and used a trick I read from someone about placing masking tape at the three tips of the emblem. That way when you remove the backing and the adhesive sticks, you know exactly how to place it. Worked like a charm, the emblem is in place and solid, no rocking or bending. The lower tip is about 1 inch above the chrome of the front grill.

All in all, a great experience and I'm quite pleased with the results.
