Summary GENESIS MOTOR NORTH AMERICA IS INITIATING SAFETY RECALL 016G TO ADDRESS A CONDITION INVOLVING THE LOW-PRESSURE FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLIES IN CERTAIN MODELYEAR 2022 GENESIS GV70, 2021-2022 GENESIS GV80, AND 2021-2022 GENESIS G80 VEHICLES PRODUCED FOR SALE IN THE U.S. GENESIS IS CONDUCTING THIS ACTION TO ENSURE THE SAFETY OF ITS VEHICLES FOR GENESIS CUSTOMERS.

Safety Risk THE LOW-PRESSURE FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLIES IN THE SUBJECT VEHICLES MAY CONTAIN IMPELLERS THAT DO NOT MEET CURRENT CHARACTERISTICS SPECIFICATIONS, POTENTIALLY LEADING TO DEFORMATION UNDER CERTAIN ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS, SUCH AS HIGH AMBIENT TEMPERATURE. DEFORMATION OF THE IMPELLER COULD CAUSE THE IMPELLER TO INTERFER WITH THE FUEL PUMP HOUSING, RESULTING IN A MECHANICAL RESISTANCE THAT COULD LEAD TO A SHUTDOWN OF THE FUEL PUMP. A SHUTDOWN OF THE FUEL PUMP COULD RESTRICT FUEL FLOW TO THE ENGINE, RESULTING IN A SUDDEN REDUCTION OR LOSS OF MOTIVE POWER, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.

I am curious if it is for both engines or just the 3.5. I think the 3.5 is the one that people have had issues with. Seeing I have a 21 2.5, I would like to know.

That is a good question. I have the 3.5 T engine. I received notification of the recall from Carfax. They have my VIN and therefore know that I have the 3.5 engine.

I wonder if it’s just some build dates. I have the 2021 3.5 Prestige and when I checked my vin on Genesis’ recall site this recall was not on the list. Only the one for the pretentioners was.

my 2021 showed up on recall list today. I would keep checking (although they don't have a fix yet)

What list? The only recall I see is for the seat belt and for an old 2021 recall for a gas line.

I wonder if it’s just some build dates. I have the 2021 3.5 Prestige and when I checked my vin on Genesis’ recall site this recall was not on the list. Only the one for the pretentioners was.

I entered my vin on the recall site and it said my number is not valid...another genesis snafu!

Make sure you have all of the letters and numbers entered. There should be 17.

OK, thats the one I checked too. The only thing I see is the seat belts. I don't think it has made the recall list yet. Or neither of our cars are on it.

Looks like it is the 3.5 as my 2.5 did not show up.
There have been a lot of complaints about this on these forums. I am glad they are fessing up to a problem.

Mine is a 3.5 and it's not showing up for mine. But mine is a very early build. It was from October 2020. It was one of the first delivered in the Southeast. That's why I wondered if it was just a certain timeframe of build. As my 2021 3.5 is still not showing for this recall.

Mine was built 4/24/21 but its the 2.5. If this helps trying to figure out whos is getting recalled.

My 2022 3.5T GV80 was built in October 2021 and is affected by the recall.

I was never notified about a faulty fuel pump. It is very disappointing to find out Genesis have known about this issue for a very long time and it was not brought to my attention.

I found out about the default today as I was on a busy toll road in the DFW area. Imagine the fear I was feeling about my life being in danger. It is unacceptable!

Come to find out I can not borrow a loaner car from the dealership because so many people are waiting on the same part!!!!!!!

I will never feel safe driving my car long distance. Today I drove my car 2 hours round trip to Ft. Worth, Tx. How is it possible this day and age to spend so much on a car and find out I can’t drive it long distance? I have to rent a car up front at my expense along with making my car payment. My job requires me to drive thought out the DFW area.

Genesis, you have put my life in danger, and I do not appreciate it.

I have a 2022 GV70 2.5 Sport Prestige - that had the issue. Car would stall out during acceleration. Behavior started during the height of record heat this summer in Austin TX - so exactly fits the explanation given in the recall description above.

Dealer (Genesis of Round Rock) swapped out fuel pump - all good.

Thanks for sharing this information. After checking I found that my vehicle is one that is affected by the recall. When I was shopping for a GV70 they had very limited inventory so I was forced to drive quite a distance to a dealership to purchase the one that I liked and was within my price range. I called the Genesis dealership closest to me today and was told I had to take it all the way back to the dealership that I purchased it from. Bummer...
