  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Recommendations on brake upgrade

Not to beat a dead horse but, the correct roters being the ones for the coupe? I am sure that I can find slotted and drilled as well.

Yup, to install the Coupe calipers on your RSpec, you will also need the Coupe rotors. Fortunately, there is a pretty good selection of plain/drilled/slotted/dimpled rotors for the Coupe, and great selection of different pads too.

Does anyone have a lot of miles on different rotors and/or pads???
When the stock setup lasts 100k miles easy with normal driving...I have changed brands on my previous 2 vehicles only to have the rotors warp after 25k miles.
Wondering the longevity vs OEM for our vehicles when the OEM setup is pretty good I think.

Here’s a good and I could use anyone’s advice. I recently installed set of R1 Concepts drilled/slotted rotors and EBC Red Stuff pads on my ‘13 Rspec 5.0.

No issues with the rears, but, the fronts emit an unearthly howl when coming to a full stop. Happens hot or cold.

Called EBC and they sent some black plastic peel and stick material to put on the back of the pads. Tore it all apart again, put on the material with no improvement whatsoever.

Called Auto Parts Warehouse looking for a warranty and was told I was too agressive with the break-in and they wouldn’t honor a warranty. I had no argument, so I bought a new set of front pads ($125.00). Put them on today, using the supplied steel backing shims with a couple of dabs of copper antiseize and brand new hardware. Didn’t get to the third stop in my subdivision and the howl came right back.

I’m at my wit’s end over this. Any else experience similar results with these pads?

BTW, the car just turned 30K miles and the parts that came off showed no signs of wear.

Anyone?

In between EBC installs, I put the OEM pads back on and had no issues with noise, so I can’t blame the rotors.

I had to replace front brakes recently. 50k miles. Decided to upgrade stock components without going to the "Brembo swap". The 2014 V6/Prem/Tech has fixed, four piston front calipers standard. Brembo would have given a little more swept area, but didn't seem worth the trouble. Used POWERSTOP Z23 Evolution pads and rotors. Rotors are slotted and cross drilled. Install was straight forward and gave no problems. Did have some knock from the pads after. Tried a couple of things to correct, but just ended up putting the factory hold-down springs back on. Still have brake squeak when I use them first thing in the morning, but goes away after first stop. Intitial bite might be a little less than orig pads, but as pedal pressure increases, friction does too. Definitely stops better than factory. Got them from RockAuto, reasonable price. Will probably get matching set for rear when they need it. Do recommend if you don't go Brembo and don't want to spend lot of $$$.

The front rotors on my '14 Equus warped, within warranty period. I did not want the OEM rotors. Went to Stoptec "Cyro-treated" rotors, a great choice.

I'm at just over 60k on Rspec brembo swap with stoptech rotors, pads, and lines. No issues at all. Technically my calipers have about 65k on them as I acquired them from a donor car that had 5k on it before they went full race upgrade on it.

I have the drilled/slotted rotors. Zero warp. Only issue is when they are allowed to sit after being wet they squeal but, that's ALL rotors.
