Today, I visited the largest Hyundai dealership in Mid-Tennessee. The word they have from the Hyundai Regional and District Managers, I assume SE Region, is the Genesis V8 will probably not hit showrooms until mid-November.

Nonetheless, I ordered a V8 Black Noir - Saddle interior with Tech pack. We drew up a contract and I gave them an Earnest Money deposit to get the first one. They in return will place an order for a "sold Genesis" at Region.

Now it's wait and see.

Do not want to pry too much  But, were they pretty tough on price negotiation since you wanted to order the car (ie V8)

Well it certainly seems like the Hyundai Genesis V-8 mystery continues. I talked to three of the bigger Hyundai dealerships on my way home today and all are telling me Sept. is when they are all expecting the V-8's in.

Two of them said it goes along with the big ad campaign to start on Sept. 1st. All of them are getting one V-8 Genesis to start off. All have been given their VIN numbers which they claim means they at most weeks out not months

The biggest dealer claims they are expecting theirs on or before Sept. 1st. It sounds like they informed the guy who bought it that he should have it possibly by labor day weekend.

Anyone else getting frustrated by all the snow jobs we have heard up to date?

I inquired with my salesguy and he had been saying late Aug, 1st week Sept. When I asked him for the VINs, he admitted they didn't quite have them yet, and it looked like 1st week of Oct would be most likely. He said they will not hit floors until after the Sept "Official Announcement."

Basically MSRP plus sales tax and tags. No document prep or dealer add-ons. This is a dealer who normally adds extra dollars for seal coating, extended warranty stuff (close to $1,200) on their autos (Hyundai and VW).

Only dealer in my area of 5 that has been aggressive enough to be willing to give a bottom-line walk out the door price and to telephone Region on an expectancy date.

We'll see.

I'm still waiting for the V8 as well. Plan on ordering the Pearl White w/ Tech Pkg. I'm hearing by mid Sept.... Guess I'll have to wait till the Genesis tour hits Atlanta and drive the V8. Then I'll know for sure that I want it. :D

I just got through talking to my saleperson...I got two different answers to the same question. She said that the Hyundai rep told her that they were just now beginning to produce the V8s...Then she said, in the next sentence, that they should be here in Indiana in September... Another dealer stated that they were already shipped from Portland. who do you believe?

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
i put money down on a v8 last week, and was told at that time that they regional rep told their manager that a ship had arrived that day with them.

having said that i contacted my salesman today, and he still couldn't give me an update.

Guys, what are we to do go build and ship them here oursleves? You know if they could give us a date and manage to hit it within a week either way would sure be nice! Waiting has been one thing but all the different BS on deleivery dates is quite another.

My last 3 Hyundai's have been Pearl White.

And I'm with you the v8 with the tech package is exactly what I want.

Sitting on the sidelines with my Azera but I know the Tau/tech package on the Genesis is going to be very tempting.

The most recent info I have is that the southern region should be getting them delivered to dealers towards the end of Sept. Of course, all of this speculation is just that, speculation. Those Koreans are crazy and they have been known to show one hand and play another.

Well hopefully they'll play the right hand and give us the Pearl White V8 sooner ;)

You know after what I said earlier as reported by some dealers in my area I decided to call Hyundai Product Info. today about when the V-8 Genesis would start showing up at the dealers?

Get this one..........this guy says they have shipped them from South Korea (which is the most info I have ever got from them) but he said by the time they arrive and go through customs they hope to have them available by the end of this year. Tell me it isn't so.....................please!

I have been trying to get ahold of a general sales manager from another dealership in my area. He was to get back from Hyundai in South Korea this past weekend. One of their sales people told me to call back today because they thought sure that he would have some more information. I have tried a couple times but just got his voice mail so I haven't heard anything back from him yet.

i don't buy that for a second. it doesn't take that long for a ship to get from south korea to USA, and once they do get here i am sure that these things clear customs in a matter of days, not weeks or months.....

it wouldn't suprise me if this is all smoke and mirrors and we see them in the middle of september....

You had to hear this guy. He sounded a bit like being high on something or another. I to have a problem with that amount of time. Of course there were a few reports that ships were already here with the V-8's.

I guess all I am saying is still there is nothing solid to go on. To be honest if it wasn't for this site I wouldn't have found out nearly as much information especially before all the reviews started showing up.

My local dealer said they were getting one in at the end of September, but had already sold it for the $42K. Had no reason to lie, so unless they themselves were mis-informed, there should be some V8s on the ground in about a month.

Hey guys look what I found on Yahoo auto reviews under Genesis.

Very happy AZ family guy
by Billy from Phoenix, AZ go Suns! (8/15/08)

Pros: Let's see...pretty much everything! I got the 4.6 and it screams around the streets hehe.
Cons: They need to advertise this, I've seen none so far...weird.

So it was time to trade in my 330i to accommodate my family...unfortunately that time has come. I don't play around with my hard earned money and I thoroughly research all of my major purchases. After some research I decided on a near base 5 series, but then I found some articles online about the Genesis! Thank you internet! I've never owned a Hyundai brand, but I don't feel the need to be flashy anymore, maybe I'm growing up? Lol. My wife never showed much interest in cars before, but at the Hyundai dealership here in Phoenix the overall value blew her mind away. I admit, on paper it seemed pretty darn good. They only had the V6 and we test drove it, but I wanted to wait for the V8. Received a call from the salesman saying he got a hold of a couple of V8s and after the test drive, I was instantly sold. The handling wasn't as sharp as my 330i, but it's a different class and way smoother than the little tike. But it was definitely better overall than the 5 series I tested, nothing fancy. The Genesis 4.6 is the smoothest ride I've ever experienced. I got the tech package and love the incredible cooled seats! I'm in Arizona mind you. That knob thing is a breeze once you figure it out and never have to take your eyes off the road. From what I understand, the 4.6 gets the best fuel economy compared to other similar offerings. Very pleased about that! Oh, the sound system...Lexicon. Never heard of it before, but wow, the sound it produces is a complex as the name of the brand. Seriously comparable to my Bose home theater system. I'm kind of irritated at myself for spending all that extra money all of those previous years...oh well, lesson learned. There are so many unbelievable features that I really don't have room to explain. But the best advice I can give you is to test drive one. It was love at first drive...

Now either this guy is full of BS or there have been some V-8's around since 8/15/08 or the dealer somehow got ahold of a couple pre-production V-8's.

This raises a question from me. Does anyone know whether Hyundai can sell the pre-production cars? I was once told that they go back to Hyundai to be tore down for further evaluation. Also since they are pre-production and not meant for sale to the general public I had heard that because they might be different in some ways that they would not be covered under warranty. Also heard they all have a totally different type of VIN number. I have no clue if any of this is true however???

I did see where at least one guy did appear to get ahold of a pre-production V-8 somehow based on the pre-production wheels on it.

I don't know about you guys but even if they did sell them and did cover them with the full warranty I would hate to get ahold of one that has been beat to death through alot of the testing phase.

How about you guys that went to the various driving promotions around the country. Was the V-8's pre-production or equipped the exact way they are to be sold here. Did anyone ask what happens to all of those cars?

Back to the Yahoo review what do you think real or someone having fun with those of us still waiting for the V-8's to show up?

The cars in Miami (V8s) were pre-production, as witnessed by the wheels. They had a car transporter there and said they moved them from site to site for the events. Didn't ask what happens to them after, but don't think you would want one. [unless it was a really good deal] Supposedly, the pre-production models handled by the region guys looked good, but none of the "toys" were functional. Doubt if they would resell those.
