  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

regretting my purchase

All cars have some miles on the OD when they are delivered to a customer. A demo, that has been driven but never tilted, is still considered to be a new car in all states I know of. However, most manufacturers will start the warranty clock running after a certain amount of time past assembly date, even if the car has not been titled yet.

Many states require that the buyer sign a statement at closing acknowledging the miles on the OD for the car they are purchasing, so they can decide for the themselves if they want to purchase that car for that particular price.

As is often said, "In autos and real estate, everything is negotiable."

mine was a DEMO also... The car had 1870 miles on it and the sales lady kept saying its a new car.. I was thinking to myself its a 2015 with almost 2k miles.. how is it new?

Marketed as "manager's specials" or "manager's cars" in most places.

Used car by another name.

So which 15 year old SUV has a better sound system? :-/

2003 Tahoe with the Bose package. I normally dislike Bose (no mids) but I swear it's the best sounding stock system I've ever had.

I think the Lexicon system in my 2011 4.6 sounds pretty darn good.

I agree....,,, I am missing the Lexicon from my now retired 2011 4.6. It beat out many custom and higher end systems....Ridiculous clarity

The OP's "loud bang from the back" is a bad weld that existed in the early production run '15s, later fixed during the 15 MY.

Oh, and yea the 0.5 Gen's (2009 in my case) Lexicon was awesome!! Got worse in '12 and much worse in '15. Too bad, really, they had a real gem back in 09-11.

Interesting, what's your source for the "bad welds" leading to the thump in the trunk? First I have heard of it.

Never had the earlier Lexicons but the 17 speaker in the '15 ultimate is awesome, so crisp even at high volume. Bass has improved over time and seems to really depend on the source, no artificial bass boost whatsoever.

I get that weird stutter sometimes when my foot if off the gas, then I hit the gas, it's like it has no power at all for half a second and is a bit dangerous to use when I have to merge. I always look down for the traction icon/light as it feels like traction control got triggered, but that's not it.

I agree about the radio and navigation, they are terrible and I don't even use the navigation it's so crappy. Voice recognition is abysmal, takes 5-10 seconds just to turn on, never understands you, and each time it misunderstands you it's another 5-10 seconds to wait on a reply. Nav is inaccurate and complex to use, I usually just use Waze on my phone which is mounted under the screen.

I'm happy overall with the vehicle, although if I went back in t ime I would have grabbed the Lexus GS F series which was my other choice. The Genesis feels like a boat on turns and I still haven't gotten used to it.

*****************the issues***********

-The Sunroof was rattling for the past week and it Completely stopped working today. struggled for 30 mins to get it to close. this was after driving with roof open for 45 mins i thought may be debris ? i was unable to find anything. the tracks were clear it opens easily but struggling to close. got to try 30 times to get it to close
-There is a whistling/annoying Wind noise from the Driver side window between 25-45 mph (i checked windows are fully closed).
-Some Vibrations in steering while braking.
-Blind spot detection works choppy I have to turn it on off a few times to start working.
- as someone in this forum pointed out the Gap between the Hood lining on left and right i have the same issue , the left side of the hood has 1/2 inch more gap then right side.

Overall i think i got the Best price but starting to feel like a lemon. but i still love the car :-|

will post the Dealer name if they dont try to resolve.

Force the issues with your dealer. They should probably replace your sun roof.
I had the Wind noise... had the door seals replaced, it's fine now.

Vibrations while braking are likely warped rotors. If they are warped, insist on NEW.

havenot heard back from the dealer i bought from but yea will press for it,
although the dealer is 2.5 hours from my house, would a local dealer entertain fixing these issues since its still under warranty ?

You can bring it to any Hyundai dealership to fix anything under warranty. Sounds like you should since the dealer you contact doesn't seem to be doing much.

During the times your blind spot monitoring doesn't work, is it during times you are in very low speeds btw?

along with less depreciation
if you think the same two cars...one bought as a demo with 2000 miles one bought with 20 miles("New") are going to worth much difference after the first year 12K miles of ownership..you are kidding yourself

in car that has a high depreciation rate...which these seem to have
you are far better off getting any and all discounts you can get..including a demo discount
a demo that has 2000 miles is not going to be worn out or tainted
Unless it has been run without oil or something

If that little miles..even driven harder than average make a big difference
How is it ever going to make it to 60K miles without falling apart?

Re: regretting my purchase UPDATE

So update, got a call from the dealer. There was a TSB for a few items most notably a ECU patch. New tires installed etc. and according to the service manager the hesitation is gone. Picking it up tomorrow so we'll see.

Good luck. Keep us posted.

Picked up the car today, so far so good. New tires (Conti Pro contact) are fine (I actually put the same tires on my 7 series a couple years ago). Seems to accelerate smoothly but will keep an eye on it.

Nice, any change in the noise levels with the Contis?
